The Emissaries
77:1
وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَٰتِ عُرۡفٗا ١
By the [Winds]sent forth one after another [to People’s profit];
77:2
فَٱلۡعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصۡفٗا ٢
which then blow violently in tempestuous gusts,
77:3
وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشۡرٗا ٣
and scatter [things] far and wide;
77:4
فَٱلۡفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرۡقٗا ٤
then separate them, one from another,
77:5
فَٱلۡمُلۡقِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا ٥
then spread around a Reminder,
77:6
عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا ٦
whether of Justification or of Warning.
77:7
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞ ٧
Assuredly, what you are warned about must come to pass.
77:8
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ ٨
So when the stars shall lose their light;
77:9
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ ٩
when the heaven is cleft asunder;
77:10
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ ١٠
when the mountains are scattered [through the winds] as dust;
77:11
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ ١١
and when the Messengers are appointed a time [to assemble in front of Allāh].
77:12
لِأَيِّ يَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ ١٢
For what Day are these [portents] deferred?
77:13
لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ١٣
For the Day of Sorting Out.
77:14
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ١٤
And what will let you know what is the Day of Sorting Out?
77:15
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٥
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:16
أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٦
Did We not destroy the people of old [for their sins]?
77:17
ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ ١٧
Then We made later [generations] follow them.
77:18
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ ١٨
Thus do We deal with the sinners.
77:19
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٩
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:20
أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ ٢٠
Have We not created you out of a fluid despicable?
77:21
فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٍ ٢١
which We placed in a place of rest, firmly secured,
77:22
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ ٢٢
for a period [of gestation], determined?
77:23
فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَٰدِرُونَ ٢٣
So do We determine; for We are the Best to determine [things].
77:24
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٢٤
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:25
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا ٢٥
Have We not made the earth[as a place] to draw together
77:26
أَحۡيَآءٗ وَأَمۡوَٰتٗا ٢٦
the living and the dead,
77:27
وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتٗا ٢٧
And We made therein mountains standing lofty [in stature]; and provided for you water sweet [and wholesome]?
77:28
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٢٨
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:29
ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٩
[It will be said:] “Move you to that which you used to disbelieve!
77:30
ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ ٣٠
“Depart you to a Shadow [of smoke ascending] in three columns,
77:31
لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ ٣١
“[which yields] no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze.
77:32
إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ ٣٢
“Indeed it throws about sparks [huge] as trunks of trees,
77:33
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٞ صُفۡرٞ ٣٣
“As if they were [a herd of] blackcamels [marching swiftly].”
77:34
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٣٤
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:35
هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ٣٥
That Day they shall not [be able to] speak,
77:36
وَلَا يُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَيَعۡتَذِرُونَ ٣٦
nor will they be allowed to apologise.
77:37
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٣٧
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:38
هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ٣٨
That will be the Day-of-Sorting-Outfor which We shall gather you together and those before [you]!
77:39
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدٞ فَكِيدُونِ ٣٩
Now [O Rejecters], if you have a trick [or plot], use it against Me!
77:40
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٠
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:41
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ ٤١
As to the [God‐]fearing, they shall be amidst [cool] shades and springs,
77:42
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ ٤٢
and [they shall have] fruits, of [the kinds] they desire.
77:43
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ٤٣
[They will be told:] “Eat and drink to your heart’s content: for you worked [righteous deeds].
77:44
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ ٤٤
“Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.”
77:45
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٥
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:46
كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ ٤٦
[O Rejecters!] “eat and enjoy yourselves [but] a little while [in this life], for you are sinners.”
77:47
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٧
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:48
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرۡكَعُواْ لَا يَرۡكَعُونَ ٤٨
And when they are told, “Prostrate yourselves [before Allāh]!,” they do not.
77:49
وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٩
Woe that Day to the Disbelievers [of Truth]!
77:50
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٥٠
So what Message, after this, will they believe in?
