Juz 26
46. The Winding Sand-Tracts
46:1
Ḥā-Mīm.
46:2
The revelation of [this] Book is from Allāh, the Mighty, the Most-Wise.
46:3
We created not the heavens and the earth and all between them but by Truth, and for a term appointed: But those who reject [Faith] turn away from that whereof they are warned.
46:4
Say [O Prophet]: “Do you see what it is you invoke besides Allāh? Show me what part of earth they have created, or have they a share in the heavens? Bring me a Book [revealed] before this, or any remnant of knowledge [you may have from previous generations], if you are telling the truth!”
46:5
And who is more misguided than one who invokes, besides Allāh, those who will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who [in fact] are unaware of their call [to them]?
46:6
And when Mankind are gathered together [at the Resurrection], they [the false deities] will be hostile to them [their worshippers] and will reject that they [those people] had worshipped them.
46:7
When Our Clear Signs [āyahs] are rehearsed to them, the Rejecters say of the Truth when it comes to them: “This is magic, manifest!”
46:8
Or do they say, “He has forged it”? Say [O Prophet]: “Had I forged it, then you have no power to help me against Allāh. He knows best of that whereof you talk at length [among themselves]! Enough is He for a witness between me and you! And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful.”
46:9
Say: “I am not an innovation among the Messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me; I am but a Warner, manifest.”
46:10
Say [O Prophet]: “See you? If [this teaching] be from Allāh, and you reject it? And a witness from among the Children of Isrā’īl testified to its similarity [with earlier Scripture],and has believed, while you are arrogant, [how unjust are you!] Truly, Allāh guides not a people given to wrongdoing.”
46:11
The Rejecters say of those who believe: “If [this Message] were a good thing, [such people] would not have got it first, before us!” And seeing that they are not themselves guided thereby, they will say, “This is an old lie!”
46:12
And before this, was the Scripture of Mūsāas a guide and a mercy: And this Book [Qur’ān] in the Arabic tongue confirms [the earlier one]: to warn the wrongdoers, and as glad tidings to those who do good [deeds].
46:13
Verily, those who say, “Our Lord is Allāh,” and remain steadfast [on that Path], for them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
46:14
Such shall be the People of Paradise, dwelling therein forever: a reward for their [good] deeds.
46:15
We have enjoined on Man kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the [child] to his weaning is [a period of] thirty months. At length, when he reaches the age of full strength and attains forty years, he says, “O My Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may do righteous [deeds] such as You approve; and be gracious to me in my progeny. Truly, have I turned to You and truly, I am one of those who submit [to You].”
46:16
Such are the ones from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds and overlook their ill deeds: [they shall be] among the People of Paradise: a promise of Truth which was made to them [in this life].
46:17
But [there is one] who says to his parents, “Fie on you!Do you hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up [again], even though generations have passed before me [without rising again]?” And the two cry out for Allāh’s help [and rebuked their son, saying]: “Woe to you! Have faith! For the promise of Allāh is true.” But he says, “This is nothing but fables of the ancients!”
46:18
Such are they against whom the Word [of God] proved true among the previous generations of Jinnsand humans that have passed away: they will be [utter] losers.
46:19
And to all are [assigned] degrees according to the deeds which they did, and in order that [Allāh] may recompense their deeds; and they shall not be wronged.
46:20
And on the Day that the Rejecters will be placed before the Fire, [it will be said to them]: “You squandered your good things in the worldly life, and you enjoyed them: So today you shall be recompensed with a Punishment of humiliation: For you behaved arrogantly on earth, and because you [ever] transgressed.”
46:21
Mention [Hūd], one of the ‘Ād’s[own] brethren. Behold, he warned his people beside the Winding Sand-Tracts:and there have been Warners before him and after him [proclaiming]: “Worship you none other than Allāh: Truly, I fear for you the Punishment of a Mighty Day.”
46:22
They said: “Have you come in order to turn us away [by lying] from our gods? So bring upon us the [calamity] with which you do warn us, if you are telling the truth!”
46:23
He said: “The Knowledge [of when it will come] is only with Allāh [alone]: I [only] proclaim to you the Message I have been sent with: But I see that you are a people in ignorance!”
46:24
Then, when they saw a cloud appearing over their valleys, they said, “This cloud will give us rain!” “Nay [they were told], it is the [calamity] you were asking to be hastened — a wind wherein is a painful punishment!
46:25
“Everything will it destroy by the command of its Lord!” Then by the morning, nothing was to be seen but [the ruins of] their houses! Thus, We do reward people given to sin!
46:26
And We had firmly established them [the ‘Ād]in a [prosperity and] power which We have not given to you [O Quraysh!] and We had endowed them with [faculties of] hearing, sight, heart and intellect: but of no profit to them were their [faculties of] hearing, sight, heart and intellect, as they went on disacknowledging the Signs of Allāh: and they were [completely] hemmed in by that which they used to mock!
46:27
We destroyed aforetime towns round about you;and We have shown [them] the Signs in various ways, that people may turn [to Us].
46:28
Why then was no help forthcoming to them from those whom they worshipped as gods, besides Allāh, as a means of access [to Allāh]? Nay, they left them in the lurch: That was [the fate of] their falsehood and their invention.
46:29
Behold, We turned towards you a company of Jinns [quietly] listening to the Qur’ān: when they stood in the presence thereof, they said, “Listen quietly!” When the [reading] was finished, they returned to their people, as warners.
46:30
They said, “O Our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Mūsā, confirming what came before it: it guides to the Truth and to a Straight Path.
46:31
“O Our people, respond to the one who invites [you] to Allāh, and believe in him: He [Allāh] will forgive you your sins, and spare you from a Punishment Grievous.
46:32
“If any does not respond to the one who invites to Allāh, he cannot frustrate [Allāh] in the earth, and no guardians can he have against Allāh: Such people are in manifest deviation.”
46:33
See they not that Allāh who created the heavens and the earth, and He never wearied with their creation, is able to bring the dead back to life? Yes, verily, He has [absolute] power over all things.
46:34
And on the Day that the Rejecters will be placed before the Fire, [they will be asked:] “Is this not the Truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.” [Allāh will say:] “Then taste you the Punishment, for you were wont to reject [Truth]!”
46:35
Therefore, endure patiently, as did [all] Messengers of firm resolution; and be in no haste about the [Rejecters]. On the Day [of Judgement] when they see the [Punishment] promised them, [it will be] as if they had not spent more than an hour of a single day. [Your duty is only] to deliver [the Message]: So, shall any be destroyed except the transgressors?
47. Muḥammad
47:1
Those who reject [Allāh] and hinder [people] from the Path of Allāh, He will cause their deeds to be forfeited.
47:2
[But] those who believe and do righteous deeds, and believe in the [Revelation] sent down to Muḥammad — for it is the Truth from their Lord — He will erase from them their sins and make good their condition.
47:3
This is because those who reject [Allāh] follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord: Thus does Allāh set forth for people their [lessons] by similes.
47:4
Therefore, when you meet the Rejecters [in war], smite at their necks until you have inflicted much wounds upon them, bind [the captives] firmly: thereafter [is the time for] setting them free either by generosity or against ransom: until the war comes to an end. Thus [are you commanded]: but if it had been Allāh’s Will, He could certainly have [Himself] exacted retribution from them; but [He lets you fight] in order to test some of you with others. And those who are slain in the Path of Allāh, He will never let their deeds be forfeited.
47:5
Soon will He guide them and make good their condition,
47:6
and admit them to Paradise which He has made known to them.
47:7
O You who believe! If you help [the cause of] Allāh, He will help you and strengthen your feet.
47:8
[But] those who reject [Allāh’s Message], for them is ignominy, and [Allāh] will forfeit their deeds.
47:9
That is because they hated what Allāh has revealed, so He forfeited their deeds.
47:10
Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the fate of those before them [who indulged in evil]? Allāh brought utter destruction on them, and similar [fate awaits] those who reject [Allāh].
47:11
That is because Allāh is the Protector of those who believe, while those who reject [Allāh] have no protector.
47:12
Verily, Allāh will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds, into Gardens beneath which rivers flow; while those who rejected [Allāh] enjoy [this world] and eat as cattle do; and the Fire will be their [final] abode.
47:13
And how many towns, with more power than your town which has driven you out, have We destroyed [for their sins]? And there was none to aid them.
47:14
Is then one who is on a clear [Path] from his Lord, like one whom the evil of his conduct seems fascinating, and such as follow their whims?
47:15
[Here is] a description of Paradise which the [God‐]fearing are promised: in it are rivers of water unstaling;rivers of milk whose taste never changes; rivers of wine, a joy to those who drink; and rivers of pure honey. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits, and forgiveness from their Lord. [Can those in such Bliss] be compared to such as shall dwell forever in the Fire, and be given boiling water to drink, so that it cuts up their bowels [to pieces]?
47:16
And among them are people who listen to you, till when they go out from your place, they say to those who have received Knowledge, “What is it that he said just now?” Such are people whose hearts Allāh has sealed, and who follow their whims.
47:17
And those who embraced Guidance, He increases their Guidance, and bestows on them their fear [of Allāh].
47:18
Do they then only wait for The Hour, that it should overtake them of a sudden? But already have come some signs thereof, and when it comes to them, how shall they have their admonition?
47:19
Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allāh, and [O Prophet] ask [His] forgiveness for your sin, and for the believing men and believing women: for Allāh knows how you move about and how you dwell in your homes.
47:20
Those who believe say, “Why is not a Sūrah sent down [for us]?” But when a Sūrah of decisive meaning is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, you will see those in whose hearts is a diseaselooking at you with a look of one fainted, fearing death. But more fitting for them would be
47:21
to obey [Allāh] and say what is just. And when a matter is resolved, it would be best for them if they were true to Allāh.
47:22
Then, if by chance, you were put in authority, would you make mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?
47:23
Such are the people whom Allāh has cursed, for He has made them deaf and blinded their sight.
47:24
Do they not then [earnestly] ponder over the Qur’ān, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
47:25
Those who turn back after guidance became clear to them,The Shayṭān has instigated them and buoyed them up [with false hopes].
47:26
This is because they said to those who hate what Allāh has revealed, “We will obey you in part of [this] matter;” but Allāh knows their [inner] secrets.
47:27
So how [will it be] when the angels will take their souls at death, hitting their faces and their backs?
47:28
This is because they followed that which angered Allāh, and they hated Allāh’s good pleasure; so He forfeited their deeds.
47:29
Or do those in whose hearts is a disease, think that Allāh will not expose [all] their malice?
47:30
Had We so willed, We could have shown them up to you, and you could have known them by their marks: but surely you will know them by the [modulated] tone of their speech. And Allāh knows [all] that you do.
47:31
And We shall try you so that We test those among you who strive their utmost and endure patiently; and We shall try your reported [mettle].
47:32
Those who reject [the Message] and hinder [people] from the Path of Allāh, and resisted the Messenger after guidance became clear to them, will not harm Allāh in the least, and He will forfeit their deeds.
47:33
O You who believe! Obey Allāh, and obey the Messenger, and nullify not your deeds!
47:34
Those who rejected [the Message], and hindered [people] from the Path of Allāh, then died while still disbelieving, Allāh will never forgive them.
47:35
Be not weak and faint-hearted, soliciting peace while you have the upper-hand: for Allāh is with you, and will never forfeit your [good] deeds.
47:36
The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if you believe and fear [Allāh], He will grant you your recompense, and will not ask you [to give up] your wealth.
47:37
If He were to ask you for [all of] it [wealth] and press you, you would be miserly, and He would [thus] bring out all your ill-feelings.
47:38
Behold, you are invited to spend [of your wealth] in the Way of Allāh. But among you are some that are miserly. But any who are miserly are so at the detriment of their own selves. Allāh is Free-of-All-Want,and it is [only] you that are needy. If you turn back [from the Path of Allāh], He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you!
48. The Victory
48:1
Verily, We have granted you a Manifest Victory:
48:2
that Allāh may forgive you your sins of the past and those to follow;complete His favours to you; and guide you on the Straight Path;
48:3
and [so] that Allāh may assist you with powerful help.
48:4
It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the Believers, that they may increase in faith; for to Allāh belong the forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allāh is All-Knowing, Most-Wise;
48:5
that He may admit the believing men and believing women to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever, and erase their sins; and that is, in the sight of Allāh, Supreme Success,
48:6
and that He may punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and the polytheist women, who entertain an evil thought of Allāh.Evil will engulf them and the Wrath of Allāh is on them: He has cursed them and got Hell ready for them: and evil is it for a [final] destination.
48:7
To Allāh belong the forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allāh is Mighty, Most-Wise.
48:8
We have truly sent you as a Witness, a Giver-of-Glad-Tidings, and as a Warner:
48:9
in order that you [O People] may believe in Allāh and His Messenger, that you may assist and honour him [the Prophet], and celebrate His [Allāh’s]praises morning and evening.
48:10
Verily, those who pledge their oathto you [O Prophet], in reality pledge their oath to Allāh: the Hand of Allāh is over their hands: then anyone who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own self, and anyone who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allāh, Allāh will soon grant him a great reward.
48:11
The Bedouins, who lagged behind, will say to you: “We were engaged in [looking after] our wealth and our families: do then pray for our forgiveness.” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: “Who then has any power at all [to intervene] with Allāh on your behalf, if His will is to inflict on you some loss or to bestow on you some profit? But Allāh is All-Knowing of all that you do.
48:12
“Nay you thought that the Messenger and the Believers would never return to their families; this seemed fascinating in your hearts, and you entertained an evil thought, for you are a people destined for destruction.”
48:13
And if any believe not in Allāh and His Messenger, We have prepared for [such] who reject [Allāh] a Blazing Fire!
48:14
To Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills: and Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
48:15
Those who lagged behind [will say], when you set forth to acquire booty [in war]: “Permit us to follow you!” They wish to change Allāh’s word! Say [O Prophet]: “Not thus will you follow us: Allāh has already declared [this] beforehand.” Then they will say, “But you are jealous of us.” Nay, but little do they understand [such things].
48:16
Say to the Bedouins, who lagged behind: “You shall be summoned [to fight] against a mighty people [well-versed in war]: then shall you fight, or they shall submit. Then if you show obedience, Allāh will grant you an excellent reward, but if you turn back as you did before, He will inflict on you a painful Punishment.”
48:17
There is no blame on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor on one who is ill [if he joins not the war]:But he that obeys Allāh and His Messenger, [Allāh] will admit him into Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and he who turns back, [Allāh] will inflict on him a painful Punishment.
48:18
Allāh’s Good Pleasure was on the Believers when they swore allegiance to you [O Prophet] under the Tree.He knew what was in their hearts; so, He sent down tranquility to them; and He rewarded them with a quick Victory;
48:19
and many gains will they acquire [besides]: and Allāh is Mighty, Most-Wise.
48:20
Allāh has promised you many gains that you shall acquire, and He has given you this beforehand;and He has restrained the hands of people from [harming] you; that it may be a Sign for the Believers, and that He may guide you to a Straight Path;
48:21
and other gains[there are], which are not [yet] within your grasp, but which Allāh has encircled: and Allāh has [absolute] power over all things.
48:22
And if the Rejecters [of the Message] should fight you, they would certainly turn their backs; then would they find neither a guardian nor helper.
48:23
[Such has been] the practice of Allāh in the past: no change will you find in the practice of Allāh.
48:24
And it is He who has restrained their hands from [harming] you and your hands from them in the valley of Makkah, after He gave you the victory over them. And Allāh sees well all that you do.
48:25
They are the ones who rejected [Islām] and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque and [prevented] the dedicated sacrificial animals from reaching their place [of sacrifice].Had there not been believing men and believing women [in Makkah] whom you did not know and would have trampled them down, whereby accruing a damage without [your] knowledge, [Allāh would have allowed you to force your way, but He held back your hands] that He may admit to His Mercy whom He will. If they had been apart,We should certainly have punished the Rejecters among them with a painful punishment.
48:26
[Remember] when the Rejecters bore in their hearts [scornful] disdain — the disdain of Ignorance— Allāh sent down His Tranquility to his Messenger and to the Believers, and made them stick close to the command of fear [of Allāh]; and well were they entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allāh has full knowledge of everything.
48:27
Truly did Allāh fulfil the dreamfor His Messenger in truth: you shall surely enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allāh wills, secure, with heads shaved, hair cut short, and without fear. For He knew what you knew not, and, therefore, He granted [you], besides this, a quick victory.
48:28
It is He who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to make it prevail over all religion: and enough is Allāh for a Witness.
48:29
Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh; and those who are with him are strong against Rejecters [of Faith, but] compassionate towards each other. You will see them bow and prostrate themselves [in prayer], seeking the bounty of Allāh and [His] Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, [being] the traces of their prostration [to Allāh]. Their simile in the Torah and their simile in the Bible [Gospels] is: Like a planted seed which sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, [filling] the sowers with wonder [and delight]. As a result, it fills the Rejecters [of Faith] with rage at them. Allāh has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a Great Reward.
49. The Inner Apartments
49:1
O You who believe! Put not yourselves forward before Allāh and His Messenger; and fear Allāh: for Allāh is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
49:2
O You who believe! Raise not your voices over the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk, as you may speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds get forfeited while you perceive not.
49:3
Those who lower their voices in the presence of Allāh’s Messenger, their hearts Allāh has tested for piety: For them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.
49:4
Those who shout out to you from outside the Inner Apartments— most of them lack understanding.
49:5
If only they had patience until you could come out to them, it would be best for them: and Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
49:6
O You who believe! If a transgressor comes to you with any report, ascertain the truth, lest you harm some people unknowingly, and afterwards become full of remorse for what you have done.
49:7
And know that among you is Allāh’s Messenger: were he, in many matters, to follow your [wishes], you would certainly fall into difficulties: But Allāh has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you unbelief, wrongdoing, and rebellion: such indeed are the rightly guided;
49:8
a grace and favour from Allāh; and Allāh is All-Knowing, Most-Wise.
49:9
If two parties from among the Believers fall into a fight, make you peace between them: but if one of them transgresses [beyond bounds] against the other, then fight you [all] against the one that transgresses until it returns to the command of Allāh; and if it returns, make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allāh loves those who are equitable.
49:10
The Believers are but a [single] Brotherhood: so make peace [and reconciliation] between your two [contending] brothers; and fear Allāh, that you may receive [His] Mercy.
49:11
O You who believe! Let not men among you laugh at other men: it may be that the [latter] are better than the [former]: nor let women laugh at other women: it may be that the [latter] are better than the [former]: nor upbraideach other, nor revile each other by [using offensive] nicknames: How evil is a name connoting wickedness [to be used for one] after he has believed: and those who do not repent are [indeed] the wrongdoers.
49:12
O You who believe! Avoid most suspicions: for conjecture in some cases is a sin: and spy not on each other, nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?Nay, you would abhor it. Fear Allāh: for Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
49:13
O People! We created you from a single [pair] of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know [recognise] each other [not that you may despise each other]. Verily, the most honoured of you in the sight of Allāh is [he who is] the most fearful [of Allāh] of you. And Allāh is All-Knowing, Most-Acquainted [with all things].
49:14
The Bedouin say, “We believe!” Say, “You did not believe; but say, ‘We have submitted,’ for not yet has Faith entered your hearts. But if you obey Allāh and His Messenger, He will not diminish [the recompense of] anything of your deeds: for Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.”
49:15
Only those are the Believers who have believed in Allāh and His Messenger, and have never [since] doubted, but have striven with their wealth and their persons in the Path of Allāh: such are the truthful.
49:16
Say [O Prophet]: “What! Will you tell Allāh about your religiosity while Allāh knows all that is in the heavens and on earth? And Allāh has full knowledge of everything.
49:17
They count it as a favour that they have embraced the Islām [submission to Allāh].Say, “Count not your Islām as a favour upon me: nay, Allāh has bestowed a favour upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if you be truthful.
49:18
“Verily, Allāh knows the Unseen of the heavens and the earth: and Allāh sees well all that you do.”
50. Qāf
50:1
Qāf:By the Glorious Qur’ān [you are Allāh’s Messenger].
50:2
But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves. So, the Rejecters said, “This is a strange thing!
50:3
“What! When we die and become dust, [shall we live again?] That is a [sort of] return far [from our understanding].”
50:4
We know for sure how much of them the earth takes away:with Us is a Register guarding [the full account].
50:5
But they disbelieved the Truth when it came to them: so they are in a confused state.
50:6
Do they not look at the sky above them? How have We constructed it and adorned it, and there are no gaps in it?
50:7
And We have spread the earth out, and planted therein mountainsstanding firm, and We grow therein every kind of pleasant pairs,
50:8
as an insight and a reminder for every servant turning [to Allāh in repentance].
50:9
And We send down from the sky blessed rain, and We grow therewith orchards and grains for harvests;
50:10
and tall [and stately] palm-trees, with shoots of fruit-stalks, piled one over another,
50:11
as sustenance for [Allāh’s] servants, and We give [new] life therewith to land that is dead: thus will be the Resurrection.
50:12
Before them the People of Nūḥ,the People of the Rassand the Thamūddisbelieved [their Prophets];
50:13
[and so did] the ‘Ād,the Pharaoh, the brethren of Lūṭ,
50:14
and the People of the Wood, and the People of Tubba‘.Each one [of them] disbelieved the Messengers, and so, My warning [to them] was duly fulfilled.
50:15
Were We then weary with the first Creation, then how are they confused about a new Creation?
50:16
It was We who created Man, and We know what [evil] suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.
50:17
Behold, [there are] two [guardian angels]appointed to record [Man’s deeds], one sitting on the right and one on the left.
50:18
Not a word does he [Man] utter but there is a vigilant [angel] guardian [noting it down].
50:19
And the stupor of death comes in Truth. This was [the moment] which you were trying to escape!
50:20
And the Trumpetshall be blown: that will be the Day whereof warning [had been given].
50:21
And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an [angel] to drive, and an [angel] to bear witness.
50:22
[It will be said to each person:] “You were heedless of this [Day]; now have We removed your veil [of ignorance], so sharp is your sight this Day!”
50:23
And his companion [angel] will say: “Here is [your record] ready with me!”
50:24
[The two angels will be commanded after the sentences are announced:] “Throw, both of you, into Hell every obstinate Rejecter [of Allāh],
50:25
“who refused to give [in charity] what was good, violated [limits] and cast doubts [on Allāh’s Message];
50:26
“who set up another god beside Allāh: so throw him into a severe Punishment.”
50:27
His Companion will say: “Our Lord! I did not make him exceed [just] limits, but he was [himself] far astray.”
50:28
He [Allāh] will say: “Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already sent youin advance the warning.
50:29
“The Word changes not with Me, and I do not do least injustice to [My] servants.”
50:30
That Day We will ask Hell, “Are you filled to the brim?” It will reply, “Are there any more [to come]?”
50:31
And Paradise will be brought close to the [God‐]fearing — no more a thing distant.
50:32
[A voice will call out:] “This is what was promised to you — for every frequently repentant, mindful one,
50:33
“who feared unseen the Most-Gracious, and brought a heart ever-returning [to Allāh in repentance]:
50:34
[Such servants of Allāh will be told:] “Enter you therein, in peace. This is a Day of Eternal Life!”
50:35
There will be for them therein all that they will wish, and there is more [for them] with Us.
50:36
How many generations before them did We destroy [for their sins], who were stronger in power than them? Then wander through the land: was there any place of refuge [for them from Allāh]?
50:37
Verily, in this is a Message for any that has a heart [understanding] or who listens carefully and is a witness.
50:38
We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days. And We were not touched in the least by any [sense of] fatigue.
50:39
So, endure with patience what they say, and celebrate the praises of your Lord before the rising of the Sun and before [its] setting.
50:40
And during part of the night [also,] celebrate His praises, and [likewise] after the prostrations.
50:41
And listen to the Day when the Caller will call out from a place [seemingly] quite near,
50:42
the Day they will hear in Truth a [mighty] Blast: that will be the Day of coming out [of graves].
50:43
Verily, it is We who give Life and cause Death; and to Us is the Final Return,
50:44
the Day when the Earth will be rent asunder, letting them hurry out: that will be a gathering together — [which is] quite easy for Us.
50:45
We know best what they say; and you are not one a tyrant [to compel them by force]. So admonish with the Qur’ān those who fear My warning!
51. The Winnowing Winds
51:1
By the [winds] that scatter broadcast;
51:2
and those [winds] that lift and bear away heavy weights [of water];
51:3
and those [ships] that flow with ease [and gentleness];
51:4
and those [angels] that distribute the affair;
51:5
verily, that which you are promised is true;
51:6
and verily [the Day of] Judgement [and Justice] will surely come to pass.
51:7
By the Heaven with its beautiful architecture,
51:8
Truly, you are of varying opinion [about the Qur’ān].
51:9
Through which are deluded [away from the Truth] such as would be deluded.
51:10
Cursed are the liars.
51:11
Those who [wander] heedless in ignorance:
51:12
They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?”
51:13
[It will be] a Day when they will be punished over the Fire!
51:14
[It will be said to them:] “Taste you, your trial! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!”
51:15
As to the [God‐]fearing, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs,
51:16
Taking [joy] in the things which their Lord gives them, because, aforetime, they had done good deeds.
51:17
They were in the habit of sleeping but a little by night,
51:18
and in the hours of early dawn, they [were found] praying for forgiveness;
51:19
And in their wealth there is a due share for the beggar and the deprived.
51:20
On the earth are Signs for those of assured Faith,
51:21
As also in your own selves: Will you then not see?
51:22
And in the sky is your Sustenance,as [also] that which you are promised.
51:23
By the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, exactly as the fact that you speak [intelligently] to each other.
51:24
Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests of Ibrāhīm?
51:25
Behold, they entered his presence, and said: “Peace!” He said, “Peace!” [And adding, “[you seem] unknown people!”
51:26
Then he went quickly to his family, brought back a [roasted] fatted calf,
51:27
and placed it near them. He said, “Will you not eat?”
51:28
[When they did not eat], he conceived a fear of them. They said, “Fear not,” and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge.
51:29
Then his wife came forward screaming: she struck her face and said: “A barren, old woman!”
51:30
They said, “Thus has your Lord spoken: and He is the Most-Wise, the All-Knowing.”
