سُورَةُ فَاطِرٍ
The Originator
35:1
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَاعِلِ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُوْلِيٓ أَجۡنِحَةٖ مَّثۡنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَۚ يَزِيدُ فِي ٱلۡخَلۡقِ مَا يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ١
Praise be to Allāh, the Originator of the Heavens and the Earth, who made the angels messengers with wings, two, or three, or four [pairs]:1He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allāh has [absolute] power over all things.
35:2
مَّا يَفۡتَحِ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحۡمَةٖ فَلَا مُمۡسِكَ لَهَاۖ وَمَا يُمۡسِكۡ فَلَا مُرۡسِلَ لَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٢
What Allāh out of His Mercy does bestow on Mankind, none can withhold it, and what He does withhold, none can let it loose from Him: And He is the Mighty, the Most-Wise.
35:3
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ هَلۡ مِنۡ خَٰلِقٍ غَيۡرُ ٱللَّهِ يَرۡزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ٣
O People! Remember the favours of Allāh unto you! Is there a Creator, other than Allāh, to give you sustenance from Heaven and Earth? There is no god but He: how then are you perverted?1
35:4
وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدۡ كُذِّبَتۡ رُسُلٞ مِّن قَبۡلِكَۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرۡجَعُ ٱلۡأُمُورُ ٤
And if they disbelieve you, so were Messengers before you disbelieved: to Allāh are returned all affairs.
35:5
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡغَرُورُ ٥
O People! Certainly the promise of Allāh is true, let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the [Chief] Deceiver1deceive you about Allāh.
35:6
إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّٞ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّاۚ إِنَّمَا يَدۡعُواْ حِزۡبَهُۥ لِيَكُونُواْ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ٦
Verily, the Shayṭān is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his party [followers] that they may be of the people of the Blazing Fire.
35:7
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةٞ وَأَجۡرٞ كَبِيرٌ ٧
For those who reject [Allāh] is a terrible Punishment but for those who believe and do righteous deeds is Forgiveness and a great Reward.
35:8
أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ فَرَءَاهُ حَسَنٗاۖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِي مَن يَشَآءُۖ فَلَا تَذۡهَبۡ نَفۡسُكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَسَرَٰتٍۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَصۡنَعُونَ ٨
Is he, then, to whom the evil of his conduct is made fascinating, so that he looks upon it as good [equal to one who is rightly-guided]? For Allāh leaves to stray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So let not your soul be vested in regret for them, for Allāh knows well all that they do!
35:9
وَٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَرۡسَلَ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابٗا فَسُقۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٖ مَّيِّتٖ فَأَحۡيَيۡنَا بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلنُّشُورُ ٩
It is Allāh who sends forth the winds, so that they raise up the clouds, and We drive them to a land that is dead, and revive the earth therewith after its death: likewise [will be] the Resurrection!
35:10
مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًاۚ إِلَيۡهِ يَصۡعَدُ ٱلۡكَلِمُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ وَٱلۡعَمَلُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُ يَرۡفَعُهُۥۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَمۡكُرُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۖ وَمَكۡرُ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ ١٠
If any do seek power, [let him know that] to Allāh [alone] belongs all power. To Him ascend [all] Words of Purity and righteous deeds lift them [Words of Purity] to the heavens.1Those that hatch plots of Evil — for them is severe punishment; and the plotting of such will perish.
35:11
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةٖ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗاۚ وَمَا تَحۡمِلُ مِنۡ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلۡمِهِۦۚ وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٖ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنۡ عُمُرِهِۦٓ إِلَّا فِي كِتَٰبٍۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٞ ١١
And Allāh did create you from dust; then from a sperm-drop; then He made you in pairs. And no female conceives, or lays down [her load], but with His knowledge. Nor is a long-lived man granted length of days, nor is a part reduced from his life, but it is [recorded] in a Book. All this is easy to Allāh.
35:12
وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡبَحۡرَانِ هَٰذَا عَذۡبٞ فُرَاتٞ سَآئِغٞ شَرَابُهُۥ وَهَٰذَا مِلۡحٌ أُجَاجٞۖ وَمِن كُلّٖ تَأۡكُلُونَ لَحۡمٗا طَرِيّٗا وَتَسۡتَخۡرِجُونَ حِلۡيَةٗ تَلۡبَسُونَهَاۖ وَتَرَى ٱلۡفُلۡكَ فِيهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ ١٢
Nor are the two seas alike — [water of] one is palatable, sweet and pleasant to drink, and the other is salty and bitter.1Yet from each [kind of water] you do eat flesh [fish] fresh and tender, and you extract ornaments to wear; and you see the ships therein that advance cleaving the waters, so that you may seek of the Bounty of Allāh and that you may be grateful.
35:13
يُولِجُ ٱلَّيۡلَ فِي ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِي ٱلَّيۡلِ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ كُلّٞ يَجۡرِي لِأَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗىۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِن قِطۡمِيرٍ ١٣
He merges Night into Day, and He merges Day into Night, and He has made the Sun and the moon subservient [to His Law]: Each one runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allāh your Lord! To Him belongs all Sovereignty. And those whom you invoke besides Him own not even the skin of a date-stone.1
35:14
إِن تَدۡعُوهُمۡ لَا يَسۡمَعُواْ دُعَآءَكُمۡ وَلَوۡ سَمِعُواْ مَا ٱسۡتَجَابُواْ لَكُمۡۖ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِشِرۡكِكُمۡۚ وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثۡلُ خَبِيرٖ ١٤
If you invoke them, they will not listen to your prayer, and [even] if they were to listen, they cannot answer your [prayer]. On the Day of Resurrection, they will reject your [claim of] “Partnership” [with Allāh]. And none [O Man!] can inform you like [Him] who is All-Knowing.
35:15
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ أَنتُمُ ٱلۡفُقَرَآءُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِيُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ ١٥
O You people! It is you who are in need of Allāh: but Allāh is Free-of-All-Want,1Worthy-of-All-Praise.2
35:16
إِن يَشَأۡ يُذۡهِبۡكُمۡ وَيَأۡتِ بِخَلۡقٖ جَدِيدٖ ١٦
If He so pleased, He could blot you out and bring in a new Creation.
35:17
وَمَا ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ بِعَزِيزٖ ١٧
And that is not [at all] difficult for Allāh.
35:18
وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ وَإِن تَدۡعُ مُثۡقَلَةٌ إِلَىٰ حِمۡلِهَا لَا يُحۡمَلۡ مِنۡهُ شَيۡءٞ وَلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰٓۗ إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۚ وَمَن تَزَكَّىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَتَزَكَّىٰ لِنَفۡسِهِۦۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ ١٨
Nor can a bearer of burdens bear another’s burden [in the Hereafter].1If one heavily laden should call another to [bear] his load, not the least portion of it would be carried [by another], even though [the latter] be closely related [to the former]. Verily, you can [only] warn those who fear their Lord unseen and establish [regular] Prayer. And whoever purifies himself, he does so for the benefit of his own self; and the destination [of all] is to Allāh.
35:19
وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡبَصِيرُ ١٩
The blind and the seeing are not equal;1
35:20
وَلَا ٱلظُّلُمَٰتُ وَلَا ٱلنُّورُ ٢٠
nor [equal] are the [depths of] Darkness and the Light;
35:21
وَلَا ٱلظِّلُّ وَلَا ٱلۡحَرُورُ ٢١
[likewise,] nor [equal] are the shade and the hot wind:
35:22
وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡأَحۡيَآءُ وَلَا ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰتُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسۡمِعُ مَن يَشَآءُۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُسۡمِعٖ مَّن فِي ٱلۡقُبُورِ ٢٢
Nor alike are those that are living and those that are dead. Allāh can make hear any that He wills; but you cannot make those [buried] in graves to hear.
35:23
إِنۡ أَنتَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ ٢٣
[O Prophet] You are none but a Warner.
35:24
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ بَشِيرٗا وَنَذِيرٗاۚ وَإِن مِّنۡ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا خَلَا فِيهَا نَذِيرٞ ٢٤
Verily, We have sent you with truth, as a Giver of glad tidings, and as a Warner. And there never were a people without a Warner having come to them [in the past].
35:25
وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلزُّبُرِ وَبِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُنِيرِ ٢٥
And if they disbelieve you, so did their predecessors, to whom came their Messengers with Clear Signs, with Scriptures and the Illuminating Book.
35:26
ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْۖ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ ٢٦
In the end I seized those who rejected [the Faith]: and how [terrible] was My disapproval [of them].
35:27
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَٰتٖ مُّخۡتَلِفًا أَلۡوَٰنُهَاۚ وَمِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ جُدَدُۢ بِيضٞ وَحُمۡرٞ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهَا وَغَرَابِيبُ سُودٞ ٢٧
See you not that Allāh sends down rain from the sky? With it We then bring out produce of various colours. And in the mountains are tracts white and red, of various shades of colour, and [some] intensely black.1
35:28
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱلدَّوَآبِّ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ مُخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَٰنُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَۗ إِنَّمَا يَخۡشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡعُلَمَٰٓؤُاْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ ٢٨
And likewise, people and beasts and cattle are of various colours. Those who truly fear Allāh, among His servants,1are the ones who have knowledge. Verily Allāh is Mighty, Oft-Forgiving.
35:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتۡلُونَ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ سِرّٗا وَعَلَانِيَةٗ يَرۡجُونَ تِجَٰرَةٗ لَّن تَبُورَ ٢٩
Those who recite the Book of Allāh, establish [regular] Prayer, and spend [in charity], in secret and openly, out of what We have provided for them, hoping for a commerce that will never perish:
35:30
لِيُوَفِّيَهُمۡ أُجُورَهُمۡ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ غَفُورٞ شَكُورٞ ٣٠
For [their deeds] He will pay them their rewards in full; nay, He will give them [even] more out of His Bounty: For He is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Thankful [who appreciates the good deeds of His servants].1
35:31
وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ لَخَبِيرُۢ بَصِيرٞ ٣١
That which We have revealed to you [O Prophet] of the Book is the Truth, confirming what was [revealed] before it: For Allāh is assuredly All-Knowing and All-Seeing of His servants.1
35:32
ثُمَّ أَوۡرَثۡنَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصۡطَفَيۡنَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَاۖ فَمِنۡهُمۡ ظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مُّقۡتَصِدٞ وَمِنۡهُمۡ سَابِقُۢ بِٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ ٣٢
Then We gave the inheritance of the Book to such of Our servants as We have chosen: so there are among them some who wrong themselves; some who follow a middle course; and some who are, by Allāh’s leave, foremost in good deeds; that is the great favour [of Allāh].
35:33
جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنٖ يَدۡخُلُونَهَا يُحَلَّوۡنَ فِيهَا مِنۡ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٖ وَلُؤۡلُؤٗاۖ وَلِبَاسُهُمۡ فِيهَا حَرِيرٞ ٣٣
They will enter Gardens of Eternity: therein will they be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls; and their garments there will be of silk.
35:34
وَقَالُواْ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَذۡهَبَ عَنَّا ٱلۡحَزَنَۖ إِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٞ شَكُورٌ ٣٤
And they will say: “Praise be to Allāh who has removed from us [all] sorrow: for our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most-Thankful [to appreciate the good deeds of His servants],
35:35
ٱلَّذِيٓ أَحَلَّنَا دَارَ ٱلۡمُقَامَةِ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ لَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا نَصَبٞ وَلَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا لُغُوبٞ ٣٥
“who has, out of His Bounty, settled us in an eternal Home [Paradise]: no toil nor sense of weariness touches us therein.”
35:36
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمۡ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يُقۡضَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ فَيَمُوتُواْ وَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُم مِّنۡ عَذَابِهَاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي كُلَّ كَفُورٖ ٣٦
But those who rejected [Allāh], for them will be the Fire of Hell: No term shall be determined for them so they should die,1nor shall its Punishment be lightened for them. Thus do We reward every ungrateful one!
35:37
وَهُمۡ يَصۡطَرِخُونَ فِيهَا رَبَّنَآ أَخۡرِجۡنَا نَعۡمَلۡ صَٰلِحًا غَيۡرَ ٱلَّذِي كُنَّا نَعۡمَلُۚ أَوَلَمۡ نُعَمِّرۡكُم مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَن تَذَكَّرَ وَجَآءَكُمُ ٱلنَّذِيرُۖ فَذُوقُواْ فَمَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِن نَّصِيرٍ ٣٧
Therein will they cry out [for help]: “Our Lord! Bring us out: We shall do righteous deeds, not the [misdeeds] we used to do!” [They will be told:] “Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition? And [moreover] the Warner [Prophet] came to you. So taste you [the fruits of your deeds]: for the wrongdoers there will be no helper.”
35:38
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَٰلِمُ غَيۡبِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ٣٨
Verily, Allāh knows [all] the hidden things of the heavens and the earth. Verily, He has full knowledge of all that is in [people’s] hearts.
35:39
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَكُمۡ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ فَمَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيۡهِ كُفۡرُهُۥۖ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ كُفۡرُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَّا مَقۡتٗاۖ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ كُفۡرُهُمۡ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا ٣٩
He is the One who has made you inheritors [vicegerents] in the earth: So, one who rejects [Faith], his rejection will hurt him alone. Their rejection only adds to the contempt for the Rejecters in the sight of their Lord: the rejection of the Rejecters only adds to [their own] loss.
35:40
قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِي مَاذَا خَلَقُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شِرۡكٞ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ أَمۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ كِتَٰبٗا فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَتٖ مِّنۡهُۚ بَلۡ إِن يَعِدُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ بَعۡضُهُم بَعۡضًا إِلَّا غُرُورًا ٤٠
Say [O Prophet]: “Have you seen [these] partners of yours whom you call upon instead of Allāh? Show Me what it is that they have created in the [wide] earth! Or have they a share in the heavens? Or have We given them a Book from which they [can derive] clear authority? Nay, the wrongdoers promise each other nothing but delusion.
35:41
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُمۡسِكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ أَن تَزُولَاۚ وَلَئِن زَالَتَآ إِنۡ أَمۡسَكَهُمَا مِنۡ أَحَدٖ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورٗا ٤١
It is Allāh who controls the heavens and the earth, lest they cease [to function smoothly]: and if they should fail, there is none who can controls them thereafter: Verily, He is Most-Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving.
35:42
وَأَقۡسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ لَئِن جَآءَهُمۡ نَذِيرٞ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهۡدَىٰ مِنۡ إِحۡدَى ٱلۡأُمَمِۖ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مَّا زَادَهُمۡ إِلَّا نُفُورًا ٤٢
They swore their strongest oaths by Allāh that if a warner came to them, they would be more rightly guided than anyone of the nations: But when a warner came to them, it only increased their aversion,1
35:43
ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَكۡرَ ٱلسَّيِّيِٕۚ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلۡمَكۡرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهۡلِهِۦۚ فَهَلۡ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَۚ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَبۡدِيلٗاۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَحۡوِيلًا ٤٣
on account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of evil. But the plotting of evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but waiting for the way the ancients were dealt with? No change will you find in Allāh’s way [of dealing]: No change will you find in Allāh’s way [of dealing].
35:44
أَوَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَكَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعۡجِزَهُۥ مِن شَيۡءٖ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَلِيمٗا قَدِيرٗا ٤٤
Did they not travel through the earth, and see what was the fate of those before them, though those were superior to them in strength? Nor is Allāh to be frustrated by anything whatever in the heavens or on earth: He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
35:45
وَلَوۡ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُواْ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهۡرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٖ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗىۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرَۢا ٤٥
If Allāh were to punish people according to what they commit, He would not have left on the back of the [earth] a single living creature: but He gives them respite for an appointed term: When [the end of] their term arrives, verily Allāh is All-Seeing of [all] His servants.1
