ٱلْجُزْءُ ٢٤

Juz 24

سُورَةُ الزُّمَرِ39. The Throngs

39:32

فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَبَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلصِّدۡقِ إِذۡ جَآءَهُۥٓۚ أَلَيۡسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوٗى لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٣٢

So, who, then, is more wrongful than one who utters a lie concerning Allāh and disbelieves the Truth when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell an abode for the Rejecters [of Truth]?

39:33

وَٱلَّذِي جَآءَ بِٱلصِّدۡقِ وَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ ٣٣

And he who brings the Truth and he who confirms [and believes] it — such are the men who are the [God‐]fearing.

39:34

لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۚ ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ ٣٤

They shall have with their Lord all that they wish for: Such is the reward of those who do good:

39:35

لِيُكَفِّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ أَسۡوَأَ ٱلَّذِي عَمِلُواْ وَيَجۡزِيَهُمۡ أَجۡرَهُم بِأَحۡسَنِ ٱلَّذِي كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٣٥

So that Allāh will remit from them [even] the worst in their deeds and give them their reward according to the best of what they used to do.

39:36

أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبۡدَهُۥۖ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦۚ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٖ ٣٦

Is Allāh not sufficient for His servant? Yet they frighten you [O Prophet] with other [gods] besides Him! For those whom Allāh leaves astray, there can be no guide.

39:37

وَمَن يَهۡدِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن مُّضِلٍّۗ أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِعَزِيزٖ ذِي ٱنتِقَامٖ ٣٧

And whomsoever Allāh does guide, there can be none to lead him astray. Is not Allāh Mighty and Lord-of-Retribution?

39:38

وَلَئِن سَأَلۡتَهُم مَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُۚ قُلۡ أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِنۡ أَرَادَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلۡ هُنَّ كَٰشِفَٰتُ ضُرِّهِۦٓ أَوۡ أَرَادَنِي بِرَحۡمَةٍ هَلۡ هُنَّ مُمۡسِكَٰتُ رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ قُلۡ حَسۡبِيَ ٱللَّهُۖ عَلَيۡهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ٣٨

If indeed you [O Prophet] ask them: who it is that created the heavens and the earth, they would surely say, “God!” Say: “See you then! The things that you invoke, besides Allāh, can they, if Allāh wills some affliction for me, remove His affliction or if He wills some Mercy for me, can they stave off His Mercy?” Say: “Sufficient is Allāh for me! In Him trust those who put their trust.”

39:39

قُلۡ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡمَلُواْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمۡ إِنِّي عَٰمِلٞۖ فَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣٩

Say [O Prophet]: “O My people! Do whatever you wish to do in your place: I will do [my part]: and soon will you know,

39:40

مَن يَأۡتِيهِ عَذَابٞ يُخۡزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيۡهِ عَذَابٞ مُّقِيمٌ ٤٠

“who it is to whom comes a Punishment of ignominy, and on whom descends a Punishment that abides.”

39:41

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ لِلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ فَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيۡهَاۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِوَكِيلٍ ٤١

Verily, We have revealed the Book to you [O Prophet] in Truth, for [instructing] Mankind. So whoever receives guidance benefits his own soul: and he who strays harms his own [soul]. And you [O Prophet] are not a guardian over them.

39:42

ٱللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلۡأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوۡتِهَا وَٱلَّتِي لَمۡ تَمُتۡ فِي مَنَامِهَاۖ فَيُمۡسِكُ ٱلَّتِي قَضَىٰ عَلَيۡهَا ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَيُرۡسِلُ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ٤٢

It is Allāh who takes the souls [of people] at death; and those that die not [He takes] during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back [from returning to life], but the rest He releases for a term appointed.Verily, in this are Signs for those who reflect.

39:43

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُفَعَآءَۚ قُلۡ أَوَلَوۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يَعۡقِلُونَ ٤٣

What! Do they take others as intercessors besides Allāh? Say: [Do they do this] “even if they [intercessors] have no power whatever and no intelligence?”

39:44

قُل لِّلَّهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ جَمِيعٗاۖ لَّهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ٤٤

Say [O Prophet]: “To Allāh belongs exclusively [the right to grant] intercession: to Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: [In the end], it is to Him that you [all] shall be brought back.”

39:45

وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُ ٱشۡمَأَزَّتۡ قُلُوبُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمۡ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ٤٥

When Allāh alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter are filled with aversion; but when [gods] other than He are mentioned, behold, they are filled with joy!

39:46

قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحۡكُمُ بَيۡنَ عِبَادِكَ فِي مَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخۡتَلِفُونَ ٤٦

Say [O Prophet]: “O Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of all that is unseen and seen — it is You that will judge between Your servants in the matters about which they used to differ.”

39:47

وَلَوۡ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ جَمِيعٗا وَمِثۡلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفۡتَدَوۡاْ بِهِۦ مِن سُوٓءِ ٱلۡعَذَابِ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ يَكُونُواْ يَحۡتَسِبُونَ ٤٧

Even if the wrongdoers had all that is there in the earth, and as much more, [in vain] would they offer it for ransom [to be spared] of the ignominy of the Punishment on the Day of Resurrection: and they will face from Allāh what they never expected.

39:48

وَبَدَا لَهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٤٨

The evils of their deeds will confront them [on the Day of Judgement], and they will be overwhelmed by what they used to mock!

39:49

فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ ضُرّٞ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلۡنَٰهُ نِعۡمَةٗ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمِۭۚ بَلۡ هِيَ فِتۡنَةٞ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٤٩

Now, when affliction touches Man, he prays to Us: but when We bestow a favour upon him as from Us, he says, “This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge [I have]!” Nay, but this is [nothing] but a trial, though most of them know not!

39:50

قَدۡ قَالَهَا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٥٠

Thus did the [generations] before them claim! But all that they earned was of no profit to them.

39:51

فَأَصَابَهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنۡ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ سَيُصِيبُهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُواْ وَمَا هُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ ٥١

Nay, the evil [results] of their deeds will overtake them. And the wrongdoers of this [generation], the evil results of their deeds will soon overtake them [too], and they shall not be able to frustrate it.

39:52

أَوَلَمۡ يَعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقۡدِرُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوۡمٖ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٥٢

Know they not that Allāh enlarges the provision or restricts it, for any He pleases? Verily, in this are Signs for those who believe!

39:53

قُلۡ يَٰعِبَادِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٥٣

Say [O Prophet]: “O My servantswho have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allāh: for Allāh forgives all sins. Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

39:54

وَأَنِيبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمۡ وَأَسۡلِمُواْ لَهُۥ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَكُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ ٥٤

“Turn you to your Lord [in repentance] and submit to Him before the Punishment befalls you: After that you shall not be helped.

39:55

وَٱتَّبِعُوٓاْ أَحۡسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَكُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ بَغۡتَةٗ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَشۡعُرُونَ ٥٥

“And follow the best that has been revealed to you from your Lord, before the Punishment befalls you of a sudden while you perceive [it] not.

39:56

أَن تَقُولَ نَفۡسٞ يَٰحَسۡرَتَىٰ عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطتُ فِي جَنۢبِ ٱللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ ٱلسَّٰخِرِينَ ٥٦

“Lest a soul should [then] say: ‘Ah! Woe to me that I neglected [my duty] towards Allāh, and I was but among those who mocked [at Allāh’s Message]!’

39:57

أَوۡ تَقُولَ لَوۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِي لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ ٥٧

“Or [lest] it should say: ‘If only Allāh had guided me, I should certainly have been one of the [God‐]fearing!’-

39:58

أَوۡ تَقُولَ حِينَ تَرَى ٱلۡعَذَابَ لَوۡ أَنَّ لِي كَرَّةٗ فَأَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ ٥٨

“Or [lest] it should say when it [actually] sees the Punishment: ‘If only I had another chance, I should certainly be among those who do good!’”

39:59

بَلَىٰ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكَ ءَايَٰتِي فَكَذَّبۡتَ بِهَا وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتَ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٥٩

[The reply will be:] “Nay, there came to you My Signs, and you did disbelieve them: you were arrogant, and you became one of the Rejecters [of the Message]!”

39:60

وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ تَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وُجُوهُهُم مُّسۡوَدَّةٌۚ أَلَيۡسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوٗى لِّلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ٦٠

On the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allāh; their faces will be blackened. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant?

39:61

وَيُنَجِّي ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوۡاْ بِمَفَازَتِهِمۡ لَا يَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلسُّوٓءُ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ ٦١

And Allāh will save the [God‐]fearing for they have earned Salvation: no evil shall touch them, nor shall they grieve.

39:62

ٱللَّهُ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ وَكِيلٞ ٦٢

Allāh is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian over all things.

39:63

لَّهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ ٦٣

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: And those who reject the Signs of Allāh, it is they who will be the losers.

39:64

قُلۡ أَفَغَيۡرَ ٱللَّهِ تَأۡمُرُوٓنِّيٓ أَعۡبُدُ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡجَٰهِلُونَ ٦٤

Say [O Prophet]: “Is it someone other than Allāh that you command me to worship, O You the ignorant?”

39:65

وَلَقَدۡ أُوحِيَ إِلَيۡكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ لَئِنۡ أَشۡرَكۡتَ لَيَحۡبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ ٦٥

Verily, it has been revealed to you [O Prophet], as it was revealed to those before you: “If you were to join [gods with Allāh], He will undoubtedly forfeit your work, and you will surely be among the losers.”

39:66

بَلِ ٱللَّهَ فَٱعۡبُدۡ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ ٦٦

Nay, but worship Allāh alone, and be of those who are thankful [to Allāh].

39:67

وَمَا قَدَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ جَمِيعٗا قَبۡضَتُهُۥ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ مَطۡوِيَّٰتُۢ بِيَمِينِهِۦۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ ٦٧

No correct estimate have they made of Allāh, such as is due to Him. On the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the partners they associate [Him] with!

39:68

وَنُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۖ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخۡرَىٰ فَإِذَا هُمۡ قِيَامٞ يَنظُرُونَ ٦٨

The Trumpet will be blown [on the Day of Resurrection], so all that in the heavens and on earth shall fall dead, except such as it will please Allāh [to exempt]. Then will a second one be blown, when, behold, they will be standing [in front of Allāh] and looking on!

39:69

وَأَشۡرَقَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا وَوُضِعَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ وَجِاْيٓءَ بِٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ ٦٩

and the Earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and the Record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward; and a just Judgement will be made between them; and they will not be wronged [in the least].

39:70

وَوُفِّيَتۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَفۡعَلُونَ ٧٠

And to every soul will be paid in full [the reward] of its deeds; and He [Allāh] knows best all that they did.

39:71

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ زُمَرًاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا فُتِحَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلٞ مِّنكُمۡ يَتۡلُونَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكُمۡ وَيُنذِرُونَكُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هَٰذَاۚ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنۡ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَةُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٧١

The Rejecters will be herded to Hell in groups until, when they arrive there, its gates will be opened. And its Keepers will ask, “Did not Messengers come to you from among yourselves, rehearsing to you the Signs of your Lord, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?” They will reply: “True: but the Decree of Punishment has been proved true against the Rejecters [due to their rejection]!”

39:72

قِيلَ ٱدۡخُلُوٓاْ أَبۡوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ٧٢

[To them] will be said: “Enter you the gates of Hell, to dwell therein forever, and evil is the abode of the arrogant!”

39:73

وَسِيقَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوۡاْ رَبَّهُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡجَنَّةِ زُمَرًاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمۡ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡ طِبۡتُمۡ فَٱدۡخُلُوهَا خَٰلِدِينَ ٧٣

And those who feared their Lord will be ushered to Paradise in groups: until they arrive there and its gates are opened; And its Keepers will say to them: “Peace be upon you! Well have you done! So enter you here, to dwell therein forever!”

39:74

وَقَالُواْ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي صَدَقَنَا وَعۡدَهُۥ وَأَوۡرَثَنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ نَتَبَوَّأُ مِنَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ حَيۡثُ نَشَآءُۖ فَنِعۡمَ أَجۡرُ ٱلۡعَٰمِلِينَ ٧٤

They will say: “All Praise be to Allāh who has truly fulfilled His Promise to us, and has given us the land in inheritance: We can dwell in Paradise wherever we wish: how excellent is the reward for those who worked [righteous deeds]!”

39:75

وَتَرَى ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ حَآفِّينَ مِنۡ حَوۡلِ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡۚ وَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ وَقِيلَ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٧٥

And you will see the angels surrounding the [Divine] Throne[on all sides], singing Glory and Praise to their Lord. The Judgement between them will be in [perfect] justice, And the cry [on all sides] will be: “Praise be to Allāh, the Lord of the Worlds!”

سُورَةُ غَافِرٍ40. The Forgiver

40:1

حمٓ ١

Ḥā. Mīm.

40:2

تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ ٢

The revelation of [this] Book is from Allāh, the Mighty, the-All-Knowing,

40:3

غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوۡبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ذِي ٱلطَّوۡلِۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ إِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ ٣

the Forgiver-of-Sins, the Acceptor-of-Repentance, the Severe-in-Punishment, and the All-Bountiful. There is no god but He. To Him is the Final Return.

40:4

مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَا يَغۡرُرۡكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ ٤

None disputes the Signs of Allāh but the Rejecters. So let not, then, their strutting about through the land deceive you [O Prophet]!

40:5

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۖ وَهَمَّتۡ كُلُّ أُمَّةِۭ بِرَسُولِهِمۡ لِيَأۡخُذُوهُۖ وَجَٰدَلُواْ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ لِيُدۡحِضُواْ بِهِ ٱلۡحَقَّ فَأَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ ٥

Before them, the people of Nūḥ disbelieved [the Signs] — and the Confederatesafter them — and every people plotted against their Prophet to seize him,and disputed by means of vanity in order to obliterate the Truth: So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My Requital!

40:6

وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ٦

Thus was the Word of your Lord proved true against the Rejecters;that, truly, they are people of the Fire!

40:7

ٱلَّذِينَ يَحۡمِلُونَ ٱلۡعَرۡشَ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَيُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ رَبَّنَا وَسِعۡتَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ رَّحۡمَةٗ وَعِلۡمٗا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ ٧

The [angels] who bear the Throne[of Allāh] and those around it sing Glory and Praise to their Lord, believe in Him; and implore Forgiveness for those who believe [saying]: “Our Lord! Your Mercy and Knowledge embrace everything. So forgive those who turned in repentance, and followed Your Path; and save them from the Punishment of the Blazing Fire!

40:8

رَبَّنَا وَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنَّٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمۡ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمۡۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ ٨

“And our Lord, grant them entry into the Gardens of Eternity, which you have promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their posterity! For You are the Mighty, the Most-Wise.

40:9

وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فَقَدۡ رَحِمۡتَهُۥۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ ٩

“And save them from [all] sins; and any whom You do save from sins that Day — on them will You have indeed bestowed Mercy: and that truly will be the Supreme Success.”

40:10

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنَادَوۡنَ لَمَقۡتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُ مِن مَّقۡتِكُمۡ أَنفُسَكُمۡ إِذۡ تُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكۡفُرُونَ ١٠

The Rejecters will be addressed [from afar, on the Day of Judgement]: “Greater is the contempt of Allāh for you than [is] your contempt for yourselves,seeing that you were called to the Faith and you used to reject.”

40:11

قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ وَأَحۡيَيۡتَنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَٱعۡتَرَفۡنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلۡ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٖ مِّن سَبِيلٖ ١١

They will say: “Our Lord! Twice have You made us to die, and twice have You given us life!Now we have confessed to our sins: Is there any way out [of this]?”

40:12

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُۥ كَفَرۡتُمۡۖ وَإِن يُشۡرَكۡ بِهِۦ تُؤۡمِنُواْۚ فَٱلۡحُكۡمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡعَلِيِّ ٱلۡكَبِيرِ ١٢

[The answer will be:] “This is because, when Allāh was invoked as the Only [object of worship], you did reject [Faith], but when partners were associated with Him, you believed! So, the Command [today] is with Allāh, the Most-High, the Most-Great!”

40:13

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقٗاۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ ١٣

He it is who shows you His Signs, and sends down Sustenance for you from the sky: but only those receive admonition who turn [to Allāh, in repentance].

40:14

فَٱدۡعُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ ١٤

So call you upon Allāh with sincere devotion to Him, even though the Rejecters may hate it.

40:15

رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ يُلۡقِي ٱلرُّوحَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ ١٥

Exalted is He in His attributes. [He is] the Lord-of-the-Throne:by His Command does He send the Revelationto any of His servantsHe pleases, that he may warn [people] of the Day of Mutual Meeting,

40:16

يَوۡمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَۖ لَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنۡهُمۡ شَيۡءٞۚ لِّمَنِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡوَٰحِدِ ٱلۡقَهَّارِ ١٦

the Day whereon they will [all] come forth stark naked:not a single thing concerning them will be hidden from Allāh. [A voice will cry that Day:] Whose will be the Sovereignty that Day? [The answer will be:] That of Allāh, the Supreme Subduer!

40:17

ٱلۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡۚ لَا ظُلۡمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ١٧

That Day will every soul be requited for what it earned; no wrongdoing will be done that Day. Verily, Allāh is Swift in taking account.

40:18

وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلۡحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَۚ مَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِنۡ حَمِيمٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٖ يُطَاعُ ١٨

And warn them of the Day that is [ever] drawing closer,when the hearts will [come] right up to the throats, while they repress their grief; no intimate friend nor intercessor, who could be obeyed, will the wrongdoers have.

40:19

يَعۡلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلۡأَعۡيُنِ وَمَا تُخۡفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ ١٩

[Allāh] knows the treachery of the eyes,and all that the hearts [of people] conceal.

40:20

وَٱللَّهُ يَقۡضِي بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقۡضُونَ بِشَيۡءٍۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ ٢٠

And Allāh judges with Truth: while those, whom [people] invoke besides Him, are not [in a position] to judge at all. Verily, it is Allāh who is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

40:21

أَوَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٖ ٢١

Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the fate of those before them? Those were even superior to these in strength and in the traces [they have left behind] in the land: But Allāh did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to protect them against Allāh.

40:22

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانَت تَّأۡتِيهِمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُواْ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ٢٢

That was because there came to them their Messengers with Clear [Signs], but they rejected [them]: So Allāh called them to account: for He is Mighty, Severe-in-Punishment.

40:23

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ ٢٣

Of old, We sent Mūsāwith Our Signs and an Authority manifest,

40:24

إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَقَٰرُونَ فَقَالُواْ سَٰحِرٞ كَذَّابٞ ٢٤

to the Pharaoh,Hāmān,and Qārūn;but they called [him] “a magician telling utter lies!”

40:25

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ ٱقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَبۡنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسۡتَحۡيُواْ نِسَآءَهُمۡۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٖ ٢٥

Now, when he [Mūsā] brought them the Truth from Us, they said, “Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females.” But the plot of Rejecters [always ends] in nothing but deviation.

40:26

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُونِيٓ أَقۡتُلۡ مُوسَىٰ وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهُۥٓۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمۡ أَوۡ أَن يُظۡهِرَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡفَسَادَ ٢٦

Said the Pharaoh, “Leave me to slay Mūsā; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land!”

40:27

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّي عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ٢٧

Mūsā said: “I have indeed taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Judgement!”

40:28

وَقَالَ رَجُلٞ مُّؤۡمِنٞ مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَكۡتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقۡتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدۡ جَآءَكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ وَإِن يَكُ كَٰذِبٗا فَعَلَيۡهِ كَذِبُهُۥۖ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقٗا يُصِبۡكُم بَعۡضُ ٱلَّذِي يَعِدُكُمۡۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ كَذَّابٞ ٢٨

A believing man, from among the people of the Pharaoh who had concealed his faith, said: “Will you slay a man because he says, ‘My Lord is Allāh’ when he has indeed come to you with Clear [Signs] from your Lord? And if he be a liar, on him is [the sin of] his lie; but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you some of the [calamity] of which he warns you about: truly Allāh guides not one who exceeds the [just] limits and is an utter liar!

40:29

يَٰقَوۡمِ لَكُمُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأۡسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَاۚ قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهۡدِيكُمۡ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ٢٩

“O My People! You have the authority today, you have the upper hand in the land: but who will help us from the Punishment of Allāh, should it befall us?” The Pharaoh said: “I but point out to you that which I see [myself]; nor do I guide you but to the Right Path!”

40:30

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُم مِّثۡلَ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ ٣٠

Said the believing man, “O My People! Truly, I do fear for you something like the Day [of disaster] of the Confederates [in sin]!

40:31

مِثۡلَ دَأۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلۡمٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِ ٣١

“Something like the fate of the People of Nūḥ,the ‘Ād,and the Thamūd,and those who came after them. Allāh never wishes injustice to His servants.

40:32

وَيَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ ٣٢

“And O My People! I fear for you the Day when there will be mutual calling [and wailing],

40:33

يَوۡمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدۡبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمٖۗ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٖ ٣٣

“a Day when you shall turn your backs and flee: But no defender shall you have from Allāh. Any whom Allāh leaves to stray, there is none to guide.

40:34

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبۡلُ بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلۡتُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلۡتُمۡ لَن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رَسُولٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ مُّرۡتَابٌ ٣٤

“And to you there came Yūsufin times gone by, with Clear [Signs], but you ceased not to doubt of the [Message] which he had brought: at length, when he died, you said: ‘No Messenger will Allāh send after him.’ Thus does Allāh leave to stray such as is a transgressor,doubting,

40:35

ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡۖ كَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطۡبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلۡبِ مُتَكَبِّرٖ جَبَّارٖ ٣٥

“[such] as dispute about the Signs of Allāh, without any authority that has reached them. Very contemptible [is such conduct] in the sight of Allāh and of the Believers. Thus does Allāh seal up the heart of every arrogant tyrant.”

40:36

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبۡنِ لِي صَرۡحٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ أَبۡلُغُ ٱلۡأَسۡبَٰبَ ٣٦

The Pharaoh said: “O Hāmān!Build for me a lofty edifice, that I may attain the ways and means,

40:37

أَسۡبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبٗاۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِلَّا فِي تَبَابٖ ٣٧

“the ways and means of [reaching] the heavens, so that I may look up to the Allāh of Mūsā: But surely, I think [Mūsā] is a liar!” Thus was made fascinating, in the Pharaoh’s eyes, his evil deeds, and he was hindered from the Path [of Allāh]. And the plot of the Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition [for him and his people].

40:38

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهۡدِكُمۡ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ٣٨

The man, who believed, said further: “O My People! Follow me: I will lead you to the Path of Righteousness,

40:39

يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا مَتَٰعٞ وَإِنَّ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ ٱلۡقَرَارِ ٣٩

“O My People! This present life is nothing but [temporary] enjoyment: it is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last.

40:40

مَنۡ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةٗ فَلَا يُجۡزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثۡلَهَاۖ وَمَنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ يُرۡزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٖ ٤٠

“He that does evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that does righteous deeds, whether man or woman and is a believer, such will enter Paradise: therein will they have abundant sustenance without measure.

40:41

وَيَٰقَوۡمِ مَا لِيٓ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ ٤١

“And O My People! How [strange] it is for me to call you to Salvation while you call me to the Fire!

40:42

تَدۡعُونَنِي لِأَكۡفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيۡسَ لِي بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ وَأَنَا۠ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡغَفَّٰرِ ٤٢

“You do call upon me to reject Allāh, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; while I call you to the Mighty, the Most-Forgiving!

40:43

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ لَيۡسَ لَهُۥ دَعۡوَةٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ٤٣

“Without doubt, you do call me to one who has no claim to calling, whether in this world or in the Hereafter.Our Return will be to Allāh; and the Transgressorswill be the people of the Fire!

40:44

فَسَتَذۡكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمۡرِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ٤٤

“Soon will you remember what I say to you [now]. My [own] affair I commit to Allāh: for Allāh [ever] watches over [His] servants.”

40:45

فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُواْۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٤٥

So Allāh saved him from the evil that they plotted [against him], and the brunt of the Punishment overwhelmed the people of the Pharaoh.

40:46

ٱلنَّارُ يُعۡرَضُونَ عَلَيۡهَا غُدُوّٗا وَعَشِيّٗاۖ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡخِلُوٓاْ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٤٦

In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening: And [the sentence will be] on the Day when the Hourcomes to pass [when it will be said]: “Throw the People of the Pharaoh into the severest Punishment!”

40:47

وَإِذۡ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَٰٓؤُاْ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمۡ تَبَعٗا فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّغۡنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ ٤٧

Behold, they will dispute with each other in the Fire. The weak ones [who followed] will say to those who had been arrogant, “We only followed you: can you then take [on yourselves] from us some share of the Fire?

40:48

قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُلّٞ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ حَكَمَ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡعِبَادِ ٤٨

Those who had been arrogant will say: “We are all together in this [Fire]! Truly, Allāh has judged between [His] servants!”

40:49

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدۡعُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ يُخَفِّفۡ عَنَّا يَوۡمٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٤٩

Those in the Fire will say to the Keepers of Hell: “Pray to your Lord to lighten us the Punishment for a day [at least]!”

40:50

قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ ٥٠

They will reply: “Did there not come to you, your Messengers with Clear Signs?” They will say, “Yes!” They will reply, “Then pray [as you like]! But the Prayer of the Rejecters [of Faith] is nothing but [futile wandering] in [mazes of] deviation!”

40:51

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَيَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡأَشۡهَٰدُ ٥١

We will, without doubt, help Our Messengersand those who believe, [both] in this world’s life and on the Day when the witnesseswill stand forth,

40:52

يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ٥٢

the Day when excuse will not profit the wrongdoers, they will [only] have the Curse and for them will be the Home of Misery.

40:53

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ٥٣

We did aforetime give Mūsā the Guidance, and We gave the Scripture in inheritance to the Children of Isrā’īl,

40:54

هُدٗى وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ٥٤

[as] a Guide and a Reminder to the people of understanding.

40:55

فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ ٥٥

So, endure patiently: For the Promise of Allāh is true: and ask forgiveness for your sins, and celebrate the Praises of your Lord in the evening and in the morning.

40:56

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡۙ إِن فِي صُدُورِهِمۡ إِلَّا كِبۡرٞ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِۚ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ ٥٦

Those who dispute about the Signs of Allāh without any authority bestowed on them; there is nothing in their breasts but arrogance,which they shall never attain to: So seek refuge, then, in Allāh: It is He who is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

40:57

لَخَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ خَلۡقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ٥٧

Assuredly, the creation of the heavens and the earth is a greater [task] than the creation of humans: yet most people know not.

40:58

وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا ٱلۡمُسِيٓءُۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ٥٨

Not equal are the blind and the clear-eyed: Nor are [equal] those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and those who do evil. Little do you remember by admonition!

40:59

إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞ لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٥٩

The Hourwill certainly come: Therein is no doubt: Yet most people believe not.

40:60

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ ٦٠

And your Lord said, “Call on Me; I will answer your [Prayer]: But those who are too arrogant to worship Me will surely enter Hell utterly humiliated.”

40:61

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ ٦١

It is Allāh who has made the Night for you, that you may rest therein, and [made] the Day shining. Verily, Allāh is full of grace and bounty to people: but most people give no thanks.

40:62

ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ٦٢

Such is Allāh, your Lord, the Creator of everything, there is no god but He: how then you are deluded away [from the Truth]!

40:63

كَذَٰلِكَ يُؤۡفَكُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجۡحَدُونَ ٦٣

Thus are deluded those who are wont to disacknowledge the Signs of Allāh.

40:64

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَرَارٗا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءٗ وَصَوَّرَكُمۡ فَأَحۡسَنَ صُوَرَكُمۡ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡۖ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٦٤

It is Allāh who has made for you the earth as an abode of stability, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape — and made your shapes most beautiful — and has provided for you Sustenance, of things wholesome; such is Allāh your Sustainer. So exalted is Allāh, the Lord of the Worlds!

40:65

هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱدۡعُوهُ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَۗ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٦٥

He is the Ever-Living [the Eternal]: There is no god but He: Call upon Him, offering Him sincere devotion, [saying:] Praise be to Allāh, Sustainer of the Worlds!

40:66

قُلۡ إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِيَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّي وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٦٦

Say [O Prophet]: “I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship in lieu of Allāh, seeing that the Clear Sings have come to me from my Sustainer; and I have been commanded to submit to the Sustainer of the Worlds.”

40:67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةٖ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةٖ ثُمَّ يُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلٗا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَشُدَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُواْ شُيُوخٗاۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَجَلٗا مُّسَمّٗى وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ ٦٧

It is He who has created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a congealed blood clot; then He does get you out [into the light] as an infant: then He lets you [grow and] reach your age of full strength; then He lets you become old — though of you there are some who die before [reaching old age] — and lets you reach a term appointed; in order that you may understand.

40:68

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمۡرٗا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ٦٨

It is He who gives life and death; and when He decides upon an affair, He [only] says to it, “Be!” and it is.

40:69

أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أَنَّىٰ يُصۡرَفُونَ ٦٩

See you not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allāh? How are they turning away [from Truth]?

40:70

ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَاۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٧٠

Those who disbelieved the Book and the [revelations] with which We sent Our Messengers: soon shall they know,

40:71

إِذِ ٱلۡأَغۡلَٰلُ فِيٓ أَعۡنَٰقِهِمۡ وَٱلسَّلَٰسِلُ يُسۡحَبُونَ ٧١

when the yokes [shall be placed] round their necks, and the chains; they shall be dragged along

40:72

فِي ٱلۡحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي ٱلنَّارِ يُسۡجَرُونَ ٧٢

into the boiling fluid: then in the Fire shall they be burned;

40:73

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تُشۡرِكُونَ ٧٣

then shall it be said to them: “Where are [the deities] which you associated [in godhood]

40:74

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالُواْ ضَلُّواْ عَنَّا بَل لَّمۡ نَكُن نَّدۡعُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٧٤

besides Allāh?” They will reply: “They have left us in the lurch: nay, we invoked not, of old, anything [that had real existence].” Thus does Allāh leave the Rejecters to stray.

40:75

ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡرَحُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَمۡرَحُونَ ٧٥

[They will be told on the Day of Judgement:] “That was because you were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that you were wont to exult.

40:76

ٱدۡخُلُوٓاْ أَبۡوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ٧٦

“Enter you the gates of Hell, to dwell therein forever: and evil is [this] abode of the arrogant!”

40:77

فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۚ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا يُرۡجَعُونَ ٧٧

So endure patiently [O Prophet]; for the Promise of Allāh is true: and whether We show you [in this life] some part of what We promise them, or We take your soul [to Our Mercy] [before that], [in any case] it is to Us that they shall [all] return.

40:78

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلٗا مِّن قَبۡلِكَ مِنۡهُم مَّن قَصَصۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡ عَلَيۡكَۗ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأۡتِيَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِيَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ ٧٨

We did aforetime send Messengers before you: of them there are some whose story We have related to you, and some whose story We have not related to you. It was not [permissible] for any Messenger to bring a Sign except by the leave of Allāh: But when the Command of Allāh is issued, the matter is decided in Truth, and those who stood on Falsehoods lost, there and then.

40:79

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمَ لِتَرۡكَبُواْ مِنۡهَا وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ٧٩

It is Allāh who made cattle for you, that you may use some for riding and some for food;

40:80

وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَلِتَبۡلُغُواْ عَلَيۡهَا حَاجَةٗ فِي صُدُورِكُمۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ ٨٠

and there are [other] advantages in them for you [besides]; that you may through them attain to any need [there may be] in your hearts; and on them and on ships you are carried.

40:81

وَيُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَأَيَّ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ ٨١

And [always] He shows you His Signs: then which of the Signs of Allāh will you disacknowledge?

40:82

أَفَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُوٓاْ أَكۡثَرَ مِنۡهُمۡ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ٨٢

Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the fate of those before them? Those were more numerous than these and more superior in strength and in the traces [they have left] in the land: yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them.

40:83

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٨٣

For when their Messengers came to them with Clear [Signs], they exulted in such knowledge [and skill] as they [already] had; but that very [punishment] at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in.

40:84

فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَا قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحۡدَهُۥ وَكَفَرۡنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشۡرِكِينَ ٨٤

So, when they saw Our punishment, they said: “We believe in Allāh alone, and we reject the partners we used to join with Him.”

40:85

فَلَمۡ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمۡ إِيمَٰنُهُمۡ لَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَاۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِي قَدۡ خَلَتۡ فِي عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ ٨٥

But their professing the Faith when they [actually] had seen Our punishment was not going to profit them. [Such has been] Allāh’s Way of dealing with His servants[from the ancient times]. And thus did the Rejecters of Allāh lose [utterly]!

سُورَةُ فُصِّلَت41. Signs Spelled Out

41:1

حمٓ ١

Ḥā Mīm.

41:2

تَنزِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٢

[This is] a revelation from the Most-Gracious, Most-Merciful,

41:3

كِتَٰبٞ فُصِّلَتۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِيّٗا لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٣

a Book whose verses are explained in detail; a Qur’ān in Arabic,for people who understand,

41:4

بَشِيرٗا وَنَذِيرٗا فَأَعۡرَضَ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ ٤

giving good tidings and warning: yet most of them turn away as if they hear not.

41:5

وَقَالُواْ قُلُوبُنَا فِيٓ أَكِنَّةٖ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَآ إِلَيۡهِ وَفِيٓ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقۡرٞ وَمِنۢ بَيۡنِنَا وَبَيۡنِكَ حِجَابٞ فَٱعۡمَلۡ إِنَّنَا عَٰمِلُونَ ٥

They said: “Our hearts are under veils [concealed] from that to which you do invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen: so do you [what you will]; as for us, we shall do [what we will!]”

41:6

قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمۡ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞ فَٱسۡتَقِيمُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوهُۗ وَوَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ ٦

Say you [O Prophet]: “I am but a human like you: it is revealed to me that your Allāh is One God: So follow the straight path unto Him and ask for His forgiveness.” And woe to those who join gods [with Allāh],

41:7

ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ كَٰفِرُونَ ٧

those who pay not Zakāt and who reject [even] the Hereafter.

41:8

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونٖ ٨

For those who believe and do righteous deeds is a reward limitless.

41:9

قُلۡ أَئِنَّكُمۡ لَتَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِي يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَتَجۡعَلُونَ لَهُۥٓ أَندَادٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٩

Say: Is it is you who reject Him, the One who created the earth in two Days?And do you make [others] equals with Him, the Lord-of-the-Worlds?

41:10

وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ مِن فَوۡقِهَا وَبَٰرَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَآ أَقۡوَٰتَهَا فِيٓ أَرۡبَعَةِ أَيَّامٖ سَوَآءٗ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ ١٠

He [Allāh] set on it [earth] mountainsstanding firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on it [the earth], and measured therein its sustenance, in four Days,justly[this is] for [the knowledge of those] who enquire.

41:11

ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِيَ دُخَانٞ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلۡأَرۡضِ ٱئۡتِيَا طَوۡعًا أَوۡ كَرۡهٗا قَالَتَآ أَتَيۡنَا طَآئِعِينَ ١١

Then He [Allāh] turned to the sky, and it was smoke:He said to it and to the earth: “Come you together, willingly or unwillingly.” They said: “We do come [together] in willing obedience.”

41:12

فَقَضَىٰهُنَّ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَاتٖ فِي يَوۡمَيۡنِ وَأَوۡحَىٰ فِي كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمۡرَهَاۚ وَزَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَحِفۡظٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقۡدِيرُ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ ١٢

So He completed them as seven heavens in two Days,and He assigned to each heaven its task. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights and [provided it] with guard. Such is the Estimation [Calculation] of [Him] the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

41:13

فَإِنۡ أَعۡرَضُواْ فَقُلۡ أَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ صَٰعِقَةٗ مِّثۡلَ صَٰعِقَةِ عَادٖ وَثَمُودَ ١٣

But if they turn away, say you: “I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the one which hit the ‘Ādand the Thamūd!”

41:14

إِذۡ جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلرُّسُلُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۖ قَالُواْ لَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةٗ فَإِنَّا بِمَآ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ ١٤

Behold, the Messengers came to them, from before them and behind them [preaching]: “Worship none but Allāh!” They said, “If our Lord had so pleased, He would certainly have sent down angels [as Messengers]: [And since He did not send down angels] we reject the Message you are sent with.”

41:15

فَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَقَالُواْ مَنۡ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةًۖ أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَهُمۡ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗۖ وَكَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُونَ ١٥

As for the ‘Ād,they behaved arrogantly through the land, without truth and reason, and said: “Who is superior to us in strength?” What! Did they not see that Allāh, who created them, is superior to them in strength? But they continued to disacknowledge Our Signs!

41:16

فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيحٗا صَرۡصَرٗا فِيٓ أَيَّامٖ نَّحِسَاتٖ لِّنُذِيقَهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡيِ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَخۡزَىٰۖ وَهُمۡ لَا يُنصَرُونَ ١٦

So We sent against them a furious cold wind through inauspicious days, in order to give them a taste of the punishment of humiliation in this life; but the punishment of the Hereafter will be more humiliating still: And they will not be helped.

41:17

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمۡ فَٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡعَمَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمۡ صَٰعِقَةُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡهُونِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ ١٧

As to the Thamūd,We guided them, but they preferred blindness [of heart] to Guidance: So the thunderbolt of the punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.

41:18

وَنَجَّيۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ ١٨

[But] We saved those who believed and feared [Allāh].

41:19

وَيَوۡمَ يُحۡشَرُ أَعۡدَآءُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَهُمۡ يُوزَعُونَ ١٩

The Day that the enemies of Allāh will be pushed together to the Fire, they will be marched in ranks.

41:20

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا مَا جَآءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَمۡعُهُمۡ وَأَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٢٠

At length, when they reach the [Fire], their hearing, their sight, and their skins will bear witness against them, as to [all] they did.

41:21

وَقَالُواْ لِجُلُودِهِمۡ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمۡ عَلَيۡنَاۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَنطَقَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ٢١

They will say to their skins: “Why bear you witness against us?” They will say: “Allāh, who gave speech to everyone, has made us speak: He created you for the first time, and unto Him you are to return.”

41:22

وَمَا كُنتُمۡ تَسۡتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشۡهَدَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ سَمۡعُكُمۡ وَلَآ أَبۡصَٰرُكُمۡ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمۡ وَلَٰكِن ظَنَنتُمۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَعۡلَمُ كَثِيرٗا مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ٢٢

[They will be told:] “You did not seek to hide yourselves fearing that your hearing, your sight and your skins might bear witness against you! Indeed, you did think that Allāh knew not many of the things that you used to do!

41:23

وَذَٰلِكُمۡ ظَنُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِي ظَنَنتُم بِرَبِّكُمۡ أَرۡدَىٰكُمۡ فَأَصۡبَحۡتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ ٢٣

“That thought of yours, which you entertained concerning your Sustainer, has brought you to destruction, and [now] you have become of the [utter] losers!”

41:24

فَإِن يَصۡبِرُواْ فَٱلنَّارُ مَثۡوٗى لَّهُمۡۖ وَإِن يَسۡتَعۡتِبُواْ فَمَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُعۡتَبِينَ ٢٤

If, then, they have patience, the Fire will be a Home for them! And if they beg to repent,their prayer shall not be granted.

41:25

وَقَيَّضۡنَا لَهُمۡ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُواْ لَهُم مَّا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَحَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ فِيٓ أُمَمٖ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ ٢٥

And We had destined for them intimate companions [of like nature], who made fascinating to them what was before them and what was behind them; and the Wordamong the previous generations of Jinnsand humans, who have passed away, proved right for them that they are utter losers.

41:26

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَا تَسۡمَعُواْ لِهَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ وَٱلۡغَوۡاْ فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَغۡلِبُونَ ٢٦

The Rejecters said: “Listen not to this Qur’ān! Instead, make [meaningless] noises in the midst of its [reading], so that you might gain the upper hand!”

41:27

فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدٗا وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ أَسۡوَأَ ٱلَّذِي كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٢٧

So, We will certainly make the Rejecters taste of severe Punishment, and We will certainly requite them for the worst of their deeds.

41:28

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ أَعۡدَآءِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّارُۖ لَهُمۡ فِيهَا دَارُ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجۡحَدُونَ ٢٨

The Fire is the reward of the enemies of Allāh — therein for them will be the Eternal Home: a [fit] requital for that they were wont to disacknowledge Our Sings.

41:29

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَرِنَا ٱلَّذَيۡنِ أَضَلَّانَا مِنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ نَجۡعَلۡهُمَا تَحۡتَ أَقۡدَامِنَا لِيَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِينَ ٢٩

And the Rejecters [of the Message] will say: “Our Lord! Show us those, among Jinns and humans, who misled us: We shall crush them under our feet, so that they become the lowliest.”

41:30

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَقَٰمُواْ تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُواْ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُواْ وَأَبۡشِرُواْ بِٱلۡجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُمۡ تُوعَدُونَ ٣٠

Those who say, “Our Lord is Allāh,” and, further, stand [upright and] steadfast, the angels descend on them [saying:] “Fear you not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you were promised!

41:31

نَحۡنُ أَوۡلِيَآؤُكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَا تَشۡتَهِيٓ أَنفُسُكُمۡ وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ ٣١

“We are your guardians in this life and in the Hereafter: Therein shall you have all that you shall desire; therein [Paradise] shall you have all that you ask for!

41:32

نُزُلٗا مِّنۡ غَفُورٖ رَّحِيمٖ ٣٢

“A hospitable gift from the One [who is] Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful!”

41:33

وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ قَوۡلٗا مِّمَّن دَعَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ ٣٣

Who is better in speech than one who invites [people] to Allāh, works righteousness, and says, “I am of those who submit [to Allāh]”?

41:34

وَلَا تَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّيِّئَةُۚ ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِي بَيۡنَكَ وَبَيۡنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٞ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٞ ٣٤

Goodness and Evil cannot be equal. Repel [Evil] with what is better: Then will he between whom and you was enmity become as it were your intimate friend!

41:35

وَمَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَمَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٖ ٣٥

And no one will be granted such [goodness] except those who endure patiently; none will be granted it but persons of the great good fortune.

41:36

وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ نَزۡغٞ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ ٣٦

And if [at any time] an incitement [to sin] is made to you by the Shayṭān, seek refuge in Allāh. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

41:37

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِ ٱلَّيۡلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ وَٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُۚ لَا تَسۡجُدُواْ لِلشَّمۡسِ وَلَا لِلۡقَمَرِ وَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَهُنَّ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِيَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ ٣٧

Among His Sings are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Prostrate not to the Sun and the Moon, but prostrate to Allāh [alone], who created them, if it is Him you wish to worship.

41:38

فَإِنِ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فَٱلَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُۥ بِٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡـَٔمُونَ۩ ٣٨

But if the [Rejecters] are [too] arrogant [to worship Allāh], [no matter]: for in the presence of your Lord are those who celebrate His praises by night and by day, and they never get tired.

41:39

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنَّكَ تَرَى ٱلۡأَرۡضَ خَٰشِعَةٗ فَإِذَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهَا ٱلۡمَآءَ ٱهۡتَزَّتۡ وَرَبَتۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَحۡيَاهَا لَمُحۡيِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ ٣٩

And among His Signs is this: you see the earth humble;but when We send down rain to it, it is stirred back to life and its yields increase. Truly, He who gives life to the [dead] earth can surely give life to [people] who are dead. For He has [absolute] power over all things.

41:40

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلۡحِدُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَا يَخۡفَوۡنَ عَلَيۡنَآۗ أَفَمَن يُلۡقَىٰ فِي ٱلنَّارِ خَيۡرٌ أَم مَّن يَأۡتِيٓ ءَامِنٗا يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚ ٱعۡمَلُواْ مَا شِئۡتُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ ٤٠

Those who deviate from Our Signs are not hidden from Us. Who is better? He that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes through safe on the Day of Resurrection? [and is told:] “Do what you will!” Verily, He [Allāh] sees well all that you do.

41:41

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِٱلذِّكۡرِ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَكِتَٰبٌ عَزِيزٞ ٤١

Those who reject the Message when it comes to them [are not hidden from Us]. And indeed it is a Mighty Book.

41:42

لَّا يَأۡتِيهِ ٱلۡبَٰطِلُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ يَدَيۡهِ وَلَا مِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦۖ تَنزِيلٞ مِّنۡ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٖ ٤٢

No falsehood can approach it from front or from behind it: It is sent down by One [who is] the Most-Wise, the Most-Praiseworthy.

41:43

مَّا يُقَالُ لَكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدۡ قِيلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِن قَبۡلِكَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغۡفِرَةٖ وَذُو عِقَابٍ أَلِيمٖ ٤٣

Nothing is said to you that was not said to the Messengers before you: Surely your Lord has at His command [all] Forgiveness as well as most painful Punishment.

41:44

وَلَوۡ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ قُرۡءَانًا أَعۡجَمِيّٗا لَّقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا فُصِّلَتۡ ءَايَٰتُهُۥٓۖ ءَا۬عۡجَمِيّٞ وَعَرَبِيّٞۗ قُلۡ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ هُدٗى وَشِفَآءٞۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرٞ وَهُوَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ عَمًىۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يُنَادَوۡنَ مِن مَّكَانِۭ بَعِيدٖ ٤٤

Had We sent this as a Qur’ān [in a language] other than Arabic, they would have said: “Why are not its verses explained in detail?What! A foreign [tongue] and an Arab [Messenger]?” Say: “It is a guide and healing to those who believe. And for those who believe not, there is deafness in their ears, and blindness in their [eyes]: They are [as it were] being called from a place far distant!”

41:45

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ فَٱخۡتُلِفَ فِيهِۗ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي شَكّٖ مِّنۡهُ مُرِيبٖ ٤٥

We certainly gave Mūsāthe Scripture [aforetime]: but it was disputed. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from your Lord, [their differences] would have been settled between them: but they remain in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon.

41:46

مَّنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيۡهَاۗ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلۡعَبِيدِ ٤٦

Whoever does righteous deeds benefits his own soul and whoever works evil, it is against his own soul: Your Lord is never unjust in the least to His servants.
