Noah
71:1
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ١
We sent Nūḥto his people [with the Command]: “Warn your people before there comes to them a painful Punishment.”
71:2
قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ ٢
He said: “O My people! I am to you a Warner, manifest:
71:3
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ٣
“that you should worship Allāh, fear Him and obey me:
71:4
يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۖ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٤
“so that He may forgive you some of your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: For when the Term given by Allāh approaches, it cannot be delayed: if only you knew.”
71:5
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا ٥
He [Nūḥ] said: “O My Lord! I have called my People night and day:
71:6
فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا ٦
“But my call only increased [their] flight [from the Right Path].
71:7
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا ٧
“And whenever I have called them, that You might forgive them, they have [only] thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to utter arrogance.
71:8
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا ٨
“So I have called to them aloud;
71:9
ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا ٩
“further, I have spoken to them in public and secretly, in private,
71:10
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا ١٠
“Saying, ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving;’
71:11
يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا ١١
“‘He sends rain to you in abundance;’
71:12
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا ١٢
“‘gives you increase in wealth and sons; and bestows on you orchards and bestows on you rivers [of flowing water].
71:13
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا ١٣
“‘What is the matter with you, that you are not conscious of Allāh’s majesty,
71:14
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا ١٤
“‘seeing that it is He who has created you in stage after stage?
71:15
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا ١٥
“‘See you not how Allāh has created the seven heavens, one above the other,
71:16
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا ١٦
“‘and made the moon a light in their midst, and made the Sun as a [Glorious] Lamp?
71:17
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا ١٧
“‘And Allāh has produced you from the earth growing [gradually],
71:18
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا ١٨
“‘And in the end, He will return you into the [earth], and will raise you forth [again at the Resurrection]?
71:19
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا ١٩
“‘And Allāh has made the earth for you as a carpet [spread out],
71:20
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا ٢٠
“‘That you may go about therein, in spacious pathways.’”
71:21
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا ٢١
Nūḥ [further] said: “O My Lord, they have disobeyed me, and followed [one] whose wealth and sons give him no increase but only loss.
71:22
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا ٢٢
“And they devised a tremendous plot.
71:23
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا ٢٣
“And they said [to each other], ‘Abandon not your gods: abandon neither Wadd nor Suwā‘, neither Yagūth nor Ya‘ūq, nor Nasr;’
71:24
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا ٢٤
“They have misled many; so grant You no increase to the wrongdoers but in deviation.”
71:25
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا ٢٥
Because of their sins, they were drowned [in the Flood],and were pushed into the Fire. And they found — in lieu of Allāh — none to help them.
71:26
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ٢٦
And Nūḥ, said: “O My Lord! Leave not of the Rejecters, a single one [of them] on the earth!”
71:27
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا ٢٧
“For, if You do leave [any of] them, they will but mislead Your servants,and they will breed none but wicked, ungrateful ones.
71:28
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا ٢٨
“O My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my house in Faith, and [all] believing men and believing women: And grant the wrongdoers no increase but in destruction!”
