Juz 14
15. Stone Land/Rock Town
15:2
Often those who rejected [the Message] would wish that they had submitted [to Allāh].
15:3
Leave them alone to eat and enjoy [this life], and let [false] hope distract them: For soon will they know.
15:4
Never did We destroy a population that had not a term assigned beforehand.
15:5
Neither can a people anticipate their [assigned] term, nor delay it.
15:6
They said: “O You [the Prophet] to whom the Messageis revealed, truly, you are bewitched!
15:7
“Why bring you not the angels to us if you are one of the truthful?”
15:8
We send not the angels down except for a just cause. If they came [to the Rejecters], behold! No respite would they be given.
15:9
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message;and We will assuredly guard it [from corruption].
15:10
We did send Messengers before you amongst the Sects of old.
15:11
Never came a Messenger to them but they mocked him.
15:12
So do We let it creep into the hearts of the sinners.
15:13
They will not believe in it [the Message], such has been the ways of those who went before them.
15:14
Even if We opened out to them a gate of the Heaven, and they had to continue ascending therein,
15:15
they would still say: “Our eyes have been intoxicated:Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery!”
15:16
It is We who have set out the constellations in the Heavens, and have adorned them for the beholders;
15:17
And [moreover] We have guarded them [the Heavens] from every accursed Shayṭān,
15:18
but any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a [fiery] comet, bright [to see].
15:19
And the earth We have spread out [like a carpet]; set thereon mountains firm;and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.
15:20
And We have provided therein means of subsistence for you, and for those for whose sustenance you are not responsible.
15:21
And there is not a thing but its [sources and] treasures [inexhaustible] are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
15:22
And We send the impregnating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith quenching your thirst, though you are not its store-keepers.
15:23
And verily, it is We who gives life, and We who gives death: it is We who [will] be the Inheritor [after all else passes away].
15:24
To Us are known those of you who have passed, and those who will follow [you].
15:25
Assuredly, your Lord will gather them [all]: for He is Most-Wise, All-Knowing.
15:26
We created Man from sounding clay taken out of stinking mud;
15:27
And the Jinn,We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
15:28
And [remember] when your Lord said to the angels: “I am going to create Man, from sounding clay, from [black] mud, moulded into shape;
15:29
“When I have fashioned him [in due proportion] and breathed into him of My Spirit, fall you down in prostration before him.”
15:30
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them, together,
15:31
except Iblīs: he refused to be among those who prostrated.
15:32
[Allāh] said: “O Iblīs! What is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?”
15:33
He [Iblīs] said: “I am not going to prostrate myself to Man, whom You did create from sounding clay, from [black] mud moulded into shape.”
15:34
[Allāh] said: “Then get you out from here; for you are accursed.
15:35
“And the Curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement.”
15:36
He [Iblīs] said: “O My Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they are raised [from their graves].”
15:37
[Allāh] said: “Respite is granted you,
15:38
“till the Day of the Time Appointed.”
15:39
He [Iblīs] said: “O My Lord! Because You have led me astray,I will make [wrong] seem fascinating to them on the earth, and I will lead them all astray,
15:40
“except Your chosen [and pure] servantsamong them.”
15:41
[Allāh] said: “This Path [leads] straight to Me.
15:42
“Over My servants no authority shall you have, except those who went astray and followed you.”
15:43
And, verily, Hell is the promised [abode] for them all!
15:44
To it are seven Gates:each Gate is assigned [for a particular group of] them.
15:45
The [God‐]fearing[will] be in Gardens and springs.
15:46
[Their greeting will be:] “Enter you here in Peace, secure!”
15:47
And We shall remove from their hearts any sense of rancour: [they will be] brothers [joyfully] facing each other on raised couches.
15:48
There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they [ever] be asked to leave.
15:49
Tell My servantsthat I am indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful;
15:50
and that My punishment will be the most painful.
15:51
And tell them about the guests of Ibrāhīm.
15:52
When they entered his home and said, “Peace!” He said, “We feel afraid of you!”
15:53
They said: “Fear not! We give you the glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge.”
15:54
He said: “Do you give me glad tidings even though old age has seized me? What, then, is the basis of your good tidings?”
15:55
They said: “We give you the glad tidings in Truth: so be not then one of those who despair!”
15:56
He said: “And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as have gone astray?”
15:57
[Ibrāhīm] said: “What then is your business [that you seek to do], O You the messengers [of Allāh]?”
15:58
They said: “We have been sent to a people given to sin,
15:59
“except the family of Lūṭ:them all shall we certainly save,
15:60
“except his wife who, we have ascertained, will be among those who will perish behind.”
15:61
At length when the messengers arrived among the family of Lūṭ,
15:62
He said: “You appear to be strangers.”
15:63
They said: “Yes, we have come to you about that which they doubted.
15:64
“And we have come to you with Truth and, assuredly, we are truthful.
15:65
“So travel by night with your family when a portion of the night [yet remains], and show them your backs, and let no one amongst you look behind, but move on to whither you are ordered.”
15:66
And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of these [sinners] will be uprooted by the morning.
15:67
Inhabitants of the town came in rejoicing.
15:68
Lūṭ said: “These are my guests: so disgrace me not,
15:69
“and fear Allāh, and shame me not.”
15:70
They said: “Did we not forbid you [to speak] about all and sundry?”
15:71
He said: “Here are my daughters, if you must act [so].”
15:72
Verily, by your life [O Prophet], in their intoxication, they waver blindly.
15:73
So the [mighty] Blast seized them at sunrise,
15:74
And We turned it [the town] upside down, and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
15:75
Behold! In this are Signs for those who [by outward signs] do perceive.
15:76
And it [the town] is right on the high-road.
15:77
Behold! İn it, there is a sign for those who believe!
15:78
And the People of the Thick Woodwere [also] wrongdoers;
15:79
So We exacted retribution from them. They bothare on an open highway, plain [to see].
15:80
The People of Al-Ḥijr [the Rocky Tract]too disbelieved the Messengers:
15:81
We gave them Our Sings, but they persisted in turning away from them.
15:82
Out of the mountains they used to carve out [their] dwellings, [feeling themselves] secure.
15:83
But the [mighty] Blast seized them one morning,
15:84
So, of no avail to them was all that they did earn.
15:85
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just [ends]. And the Houris surely coming [when this will be manifest]. So overlook [human faults] with gracious forgiveness.
15:86
For, verily, it is your Lord who is the All-Creator, the All-Knowing.
15:87
And We have bestowed upon you [O Prophet] the Seven Oft-repeated [verses] and the Grand Qur’ān.
15:88
Strain not your eyes [O Prophet] at what We have bestowed on certain couples of them, nor grieve over them: But lower your wing [in gentleness] to the Believers.
15:89
And say [O Prophet]: “I indeed am the Manifest Warner”
15:90
[of just such wrath] as We sent down on those who divided [Scriptures into arbitrary parts],
15:91
those who have made the Qur’ān into pieces [as they please].
15:92
Therefore, by your Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,
15:93
for [all that] they did.
15:94
Therefore, declare aloud what you are commanded, and turn away from those who associate gods [with Allāh].
15:95
We suffice you against those who scoff,
15:96
those who adopt, in addition to Allāh, another god: soon will they come to know.
15:97
We do indeed know how your heart is contracted [distressed] at what they say.
15:98
So celebrate the praises of your Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Allāh].
15:99
And worship your Lord until death comes to you.
16. The Bee
16:1
The Command of Allāh has come, so seek you not to hasten it.Glory to Him, and exalted is He over the partners they associate [Him with]!
16:2
He [Allāh] does send down His angels with His Command to whosoever of His servantsas He pleases, [commanding them]: “Warn [people] that there is no god but I: so fear [none but] Me.”
16:3
He has created the heavens and the earth with Truth. Exalted is He over [the partners] they associate [Him with]!
16:4
He has created Man from a sperm-drop; and, behold, this same [Man] becomes an open disputer [with Allāh]!
16:5
And the cattle He has created for you: from them you derive warmth, and [numerous] benefits, and of their [meat] you eat.
16:6
And you have [a sense of] beauty in them as you drive them home in the evening, and as you lead them forth to pasture in the morning.
16:7
And they carry your heavy loads to lands that you could not [otherwise] reach except with souls distressed: for your Lord is indeed Most-Compassionate, Most-Merciful,
16:8
and [He has created] horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and as an adornment; and He has created [other] things which you know not.
16:9
Allāh [alone] can show the right path, but there are ways that are crooked. If Allāh had willed, He could have guided all of you.
16:10
It is He who sends down rain from the sky, from it you drink, and out of it [grows] the plants on which you feed [your cattle].
16:11
With it [water] He produces for you crops [from seeds], olives, date-palms, grapes and every kind of fruits: verily, in this is a sign for those who ponder.
16:12
He has made subservient to you the Night and the Day, the Sun and the Moon, and the stars are in subservience [to you] by His Command. Verily, in this are Signs for people who are thoughtful.
16:13
And the things on this earth which He has multiplied for you in varying colours; verily, in this is a Sign for men who are mindful.
16:14
It is He who has made the sea subservient [to you], that you may eat thereof meat that is fresh [and tender], and that you may extract therefrom ornaments to wear. And you see the ships therein that advance cleaving the waters, that you may seek [thus] of the bounty of Allāh, and that you may be grateful.
16:15
And He has set up on the earth mountains standing firm,lest it [earth] should shake with you; and rivers and paths: that you may find guidance;
16:16
and marks and sign-posts; and by the stars [people] guide themselves.
16:17
Is then He who creates like one that creates not? Will you not receive admonition?
16:18
If you would count up the favours of Allāh, never would you be able to count them. Verily, Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
16:19
And Allāh does know what you conceal, and what you reveal.
16:20
Those whom they invoke besides Allāh create nothing, but they themselves are created.
16:21
[They [false deities] are dead, lifeless: nor do they know when they will be raised up.
16:22
Your god is One God: but those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts disacknowledge [the Truth], and they are arrogant.
16:23
Undoubtedly, Allāh does know what they conceal, and what they reveal. Verily, He loves not the arrogant.
16:24
When it is said to them, “What is it that your Lord has revealed?” they say, “Fables of the ancients!”
16:25
Let them bear, on the Day of Resurrection, their burdens in full, and also [some] of the burdens of those whom they misled without knowledge. Alas, how woeful will be the burdens they will bear!
16:26
Those before them did [also] plot [against Allāh’s Path],so Allāh took their structures from their foundations, and the roof fell down on them from above; and the punishment seized them from directions they did not perceive.
16:27
Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He [Allāh] will cover them with [further] shame, and will say: “Where are My ‘partners’ concerning whom you used to [bitterly] dispute?” Those endowed with knowledge will say: “This Day, indeed, the Rejecters will be covered with shame and misery,
16:28
“[They are] those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrong-doing to their [own] souls.” They would offer submission [claiming:] “We did no evil [knowingly].” [The angels will reply:] “Nay, but verily Allāh knows [well] all that you were doing;
16:29
“so enter the gates of Hell, to dwell therein forever. So evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant.”
16:30
To the righteous it will be said, “What is it that your Lord has revealed?” They will say, “All that is good.” To those who do good, there is good [reward] in this world, and the home of the Hereafter is even better. And excellent indeed is the Home of the [God‐]fearing.
16:31
They will enter Gardens of Eternity beneath which flow rivers. They will have therein all that they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the [God‐]fearing,
16:32
[they are] those whose souls the angels take in a state of purity, saying [to them], “Peace be on you; enter you Paradise because of [the good] which you were doing [in the world].”
16:33
Do the [Rejecters] wait but for the angels to come to them, or for the Command of your Lord [for their doom]? So did those who went before them. Allāh wronged them not: nay, they themselves wronged their own selves.
16:34
So the evil of their deeds overtook them, and what they used to mock, hemmed them in.
16:35
Those who associate gods [with Allāh] said: “If Allāh had so willed, we should not have worshipped anyone but Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor should we have outlawed anythingother than [what has been outlawed by] Him.” So did [say] those who went before them. So are the Messengers entrusted but to clearly convey [the Message]?
16:36
We assuredly sent amongst every people a Messenger [with the Command], “Worship Allāh, and eschew Ṭaghūt.”Of the people were some whom Allāh guided, and some on whom misguidance became inevitably [established]. So travel through the earth, and see what was the fate of those who disbelieved [the Truth].
16:37
If you are anxious for their guidance, [know that] Allāh guides not such as He leaves to stray, and there is none to help them.
16:38
They swear their strongest oaths by Allāh, that Allāh will not raise up those who die: Nay, it is a promise [binding] on Him in Truth:but most people know it not.
16:39
[They will be raised up] so that He [Allāh] manifests to them for sure the truth of that wherein they differ about, and that the Rejecters [of Truth] may realise that they were liars.
16:40
For to anything which We wish, We only say “Be!” and it is.
16:41
To those who migrated in [the cause of] Allāh, after being wronged,We will assuredly give [Our] favour to them in this world; but truly the reward of the Hereafter will be greater, only if they knew!
16:42
[They are] the ones who endured patiently, and put their trust in their Lord.
16:43
And before you We sent none but men [males], to whom We revealed. If you know this not, ask of those who possess the [earlier, divine] Message.
16:44
[We sent them] with Clear Signs and Scriptures and We have sent down unto you [also] the Message;that you may explain clearly to people what is sent for them, and that they may give thought.
16:45
Do then those who devise evil [plots] feel secure that Allāh will not cause the ground to swallow them up or that the punishment will not overtake them from directions they little perceive?
16:46
Or that He may not seize them to account in the midst of their goings to and fro, without a chance of their frustrating Him?
16:47
Or that He may not seize them by a process of [gradual] loss, for your Lord is indeed Most-Compassionate, Most-Merciful.
16:48
Do they not look at Allāh’s creation. Among things, how their shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allāh in utter humility?
16:49
And to Allāh does prostrate all that is in the heavens and on earth, whether moving creatures or the angels. For none are arrogant [before their Lord].
16:50
They all fear their Lord, high above them, and they do all that they are commanded.
16:51
And Allāh said: “Take not [for worship] two gods: For He is just One God. So fear Me [alone].”
16:52
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on earth, and obedience to Him is ever incumbent [upon all]: so would you then fear [others] than Allāh?
16:53
And whatever good thing you have, it is from Allāh. And, moreover, when you are touched by distress, unto Him you cry out in humility,
16:54
Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! Some of you start to associate [other gods] with their Lord,
16:55
to show their ingratitude for the favours We have bestowed on them! So enjoy [your brief stay]: as soon will you know [your folly]!
16:56
And they assign, to things they do not know, a portion out of what We have bestowed for their sustenance! By Allāh, you shall certainly be called to account for your [false] inventions.
16:57
And they assign daughters for Allāh! — Glory be to Him! — and [they assign] for themselves what they desire!
16:58
When glad tidings is brought to one of them of [the birth of] a female [child in his household], his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!
16:59
With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it in disgrace or bury it in the dust? Ah! What an evil [choice] they decide on!
16:60
To those who believe not in the Hereafter, applies the simile of evil, and to Allāh applies the highest simile: for He is the Mighty, the Most-Wise.
16:61
If Allāh were to punish people for their wrongdoings, He would not leave on the [earth] a single moving creature: But He gives them respite for a stated term: when their term expires, they would not be able to delay it for a single hour, just as they would not be able to advance it [for a single hour].
16:62
They attribute to Allāh what they hate [for themselves], and their tongues assert the falsehood that the reward most fair [should be] theirs. Without doubt, for them is the Fire, and they will be the first to be throwninto it!
16:63
By Allāh, We sent [Our Prophets] to people before you; but the Shayṭān made [to the wicked] their acts seem fascinating. He is their guardian today, and they [all] shall have a painful punishment.
16:64
And We sent down the Book to you only so that you should make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to the people who believe.
16:65
And Allāh sends down rain from the skies, and gives therewith life to the earth after its death. Verily, in this is a Sign for those who listen.
16:66
And verily in the cattle will you find an [instructive] Sign. From what is within their bodies, between excretions and blood, We produce for your drink: milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it.
16:67
And from the fruit of the date-palm and the vine, you make liquor, and wholesome food: Behold, in this [also] is a Sign for those who understand.
16:68
And your Lord inspired the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and on [people’s] roofs;
16:69
then to eat of all the fruits [of the earth], and follow the ways of your Lord made smooth: there issues from within their bodies a drink [honey] of varying colours, wherein is healing for people. Verily, in this is a Sign for those who give thought.
16:70
It is Allāh who creates you, then takes your souls at death; of you there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know nothing after having known [much]. Allāh is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
16:71
Allāh has distinguished some of you over others in the matter of sustenance. Those more favoured are not going to give away their sustenanceto those whom their right hands possess so as to be equal in that respect. Will they then disacknowledge the favours of Allāh?
16:72
And Allāh has made for you mates of your own selves, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you wholesome sustenance. Will they then believe in falsehood, and be ungrateful for Allāh’s favours?
16:73
and they worship others than Allāh such as have no power of providing them any sustenance in heavens or on earth, and they cannot [ever] have such power.
16:74
So, invent not similes for Allāh: for Allāh knows, and you know not.
16:75
Allāh sets forth the parable [of two men: one] a slave owned [by another]; he has no power of any kind; and [the other] is a man on whom We have bestowed excellent sustenance from Ourselves, and he spends thereof [freely], in private and publicly. Are the two equals? [By no means.] Praise be to Allāh. But most of them know not.
16:76
Allāh sets forth [another] parable of two men: one of them is dumb, with no power of any kind; a wearisome burden is he to his guardian; whichever way he directs him, he brings no good. Is such a man equal with one who enjoins justice, and who is on the Straight Path?
16:77
To Allāh belongs the [knowledge of the] Unseen of the heavens and the earth. And the matter of The Houris as [close] as the twinkling of an eye, or even closer: for Allāh has [absolute] power over all things.
16:78
It is Allāh who brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers when you knew nothing; and He gave you [powers of] hearing and sight and hearts, so that you may thank [Allāh].
16:79
Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of [the air and] the sky? Nothing holds them up but [the power of] Allāh. Verily, in this are Signs for those who believe.
16:80
It is Allāh who made your habitations homes of rest for you; and made for you, out of the skins of animals, [tents for] dwellings, which you find so light [and handy] when you travel and when you stay [at places]. And [made] out of their wool and their soft fibres and their hair, rich stuff and articles of convenience [to serve you] for a while.
16:81
It is Allāh who made out of the things He created, things to give you shade; in some mountains He has made shelters [caves] for you; He made for you garments to protect you from heat, and coats [of mail] to protect you from your [mutual] violence. Thus does He complete His favours on you, that you may submit to His Will.
16:82
But if they turn away, your duty [O Prophet] is only to convey [the Message] clearly.
16:83
They recognise the favours of Allāh; yet they deny them; and most of them are Rejecters [of Truth].
16:84
On the Day We shall raise from each people a witness: then will no excuse be accepted from the Rejecters [of Faith], nor will they be allowed to make amends [by repentance].
16:85
When the wrongdoers will see the punishment, then will it in no way be mitigated, nor will they then receive respite.
16:86
When those who joined partners with Allāh will see their “partners,” they will say: “Our Lord! These are our ‘partners,’ those whom we used to invoke besides You.” But they [the so-called partners] will throw back their word at them [saying]: “Indeed, you are liars!”
16:87
That Day shall they surrender to Allāh; and [all] their inventions shall leave them in the lurch.
16:88
Those who rejected [Allāh] and hindered [people] from the Path of Allāh — for them will We add punishment to punishment; for that they used to make mischief.
16:89
On the day We shall raise from all peoples a witness against them from amongst themselves: and We shall bring you [O Prophet] as a witness against [all] these [peoples]. And We have sent down to you the Book explaining all things, a Guide, a Mercy, and as good tidings for those who submit [themselves to Allāh].
16:90
Allāh commands justice, doing of good, and giving to kith and kin, and He forbids lewd deeds, and [committing of] the abominableand violation [of others’ rights]: [thus] He instructs you, [by chance] you may receive admonition.
16:91
Fulfil pledges [solemnised in the name] of Allāh when you have entered into them, and break not your oaths after you have confirmed them, having made Allāh your guardian. Surely, Allāh knows all that you do.
16:92
And be not like the woman who broke into untwisted strands the yarn which she had spun after it had become strong. [Likewise, do not] use your oaths to deceive one another among you, lest one party should be more than another:Allāh, in fact, tests you by this; and so that on the Day of Resurrection He will certainly make clear to you [the truth of] that wherein you disagreed.
16:93
If Allāh had so willed, He would have made you all one community: But He leaves straying whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases. You shall certainly be called to account for all your actions.
16:94
And use not your oaths [as a means] to practice deceit [and cheating]between yourselves. With the result that someone’s foot may slip after it was firmly planted, and you may have to taste the evil [consequences] of having hindered [people] from the Path of Allāh. And your lot will be grievous punishment.
16:95
Sell not the Covenant of Allāh for a miserable price:For what is with Allāh is far better for you, if only you knew.
16:96
What is with you will be exhausted, and what is with Allāh will endure. And We will certainly bestow on those who endured patiently their reward according to the best of their actions.
16:97
Whoever works righteousness, male or female, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a life that is pure, and We will bestow on such persons their rewards according to the best of their actions.
16:98
When you do read the Qur’ān, seek Allāh’s protection from the Shayṭān, the Accursed.
16:99
No authority has he [the Shayṭān] over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.
16:100
His [Shayṭān’s] authority is over those only who take him as guardian and who associate partners with Him [Allāh].
16:101
When We substitute one [revealed] verse for another — and Allāh knows best what He reveals — they say, “You are but a forger.” Nay, most of them know not.
16:102
Say [O Prophet], the Holy Spirit has brought down the revelation from your Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide, and as good tidings for those who submit [to Allāh].
16:103
We indeed know that they say, “It is a human who teaches him.” The tongue of him they [wickedly] point to is foreign, while this is Arabic manifest.
16:104
Those who believe not in the Signs of Allāh, He will not guide them, and theirs will be a painful punishment.
16:105
It is those who believe not in the Signs of Allāh, that forge lies: it is they who are the liars!
16:106
Anyone who, after affirming faith in Allāh, rejects Him, except under compulsion while his heart remains firm in Faith [will not be punished], but on those, who open their breasts to Unbelief, is Wrath of Allāh, and theirs will be a grievous punishment.
16:107
This is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter: and Allāh will not guide those who reject [Faith].
16:108
Those are the ones whose hearts, ears and eyes Allāh has sealed up, and they are the heedless.
16:109
Without doubt, in the Hereafter they will be the losers.
16:110
But, verily, your Lord, to those who emigrated after persecution, and who thereafter struggled [for the Faith] and endured patiently, your Lord, after all this is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
16:111
On the Day [of Judgement] every soul will come up pleading for itself, and every soul will be fully recompensed for its deeds, and they will not be wronged.
16:112
Allāh sets forth a parable: a town was secure and calm, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place. Yet it was ungrateful of the favours of Allāh: so Allāh made it taste of hunger and fear like a garment [covering from every side], because of the [evil] which [its people] wrought.
16:113
And there came to them a Messenger [of Allāh] from among themselves, but they disbelieved him; so the punishment seized them in the midst of their wrongdoing.
16:114
So eat of the lawful and wholesome sustenance which Allāh has provided for you, and be grateful for the favours of Allāh, if it is He whom you worship.
16:115
He has forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any [food] over which the name of other than Allāh has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing [limits], then Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
16:116
And say not, for any false thing that your tongues may put forth: “This is lawful, and this is forbidden,” so as to ascribe lies to Allāh. For those who ascribe lies to Allāh will never prosper.
16:117
[In such falsehood] there is only a paltry profit; but they [who forge it] will have a painful punishment [in the Hereafter].
16:118
To the Jews, We prohibited such things as We have narrated to you before. We did them no wrong but they were used to doing wrong to themselves.
16:119
Verily, your Lord, to those who do wrong in ignorance, but who thereafter repent and make amends, your Lord, after all this, is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
16:120
Ibrāhīmwas indeed an exemplar, obedient to Allāh, [and] upright in Faith, and he was not one of those who associate gods [with Allāh].
16:121
He was grateful for the favours of Allāh who chose him and guided him to a Straight Path.
16:122
And We gave him reward in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of the Righteous.
16:123
Then We revealed to you: “Follow the faith of Ibrāhīm, the upright in Faith, and he was not one of those who associate [gods with Allāh].”
16:124
The Sabbath was made [strict] only for those who disagreed [as to its observance]; and Allāh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection, as to their differences.
16:125
Invite [all] to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best. Verily, your Lord knows best who has strayed from His Path, and who are guided.
16:126
And if you punish, let your punishment be proportionate to the wrong that has been done to you: but if you [prefer to] endure patiently, that is indeed the best [course] for those who patiently endure.
16:127
And endure patiently, for your patience is but with the help of Allāh; nor grieve over them: and distress not yourself because of their plots.
16:128
For Allāh is with those who fear [Him], and those who do good.
